Is there any point in booking surgery if I’ll be paying cash and not sure exactly when I’ll have the full amount? Just my pc is saying dates go quick so was going to book for April but if I get the cash earlier move the date forward. I don’t know what to do and need to call her back as I missed her call yesterday. I did say I would pick a date and put deposit down but now I’m not sure. Xx
Hi Lauren, I paid cash too. I paid a deposit after my consultation and then payment is due I think 51 or 56 days before surgery. Hope this helps xx
Hi, do spaces really go as quick as what my pc is saying? I’m in two minds about booking just because I want it done soon as I get the cash so it’s making me think what’s the point in booking if I’m probably not going to stay with that date anyway. I just feel like I’m messing my pc around but she’s saying it’s best to book because the spaces go really quick. I don’t know if this is because they want the deposit. Sorry for rambling on xx
Hey Lauren,
I booked mine end of November (I paid over the phone) and earliest I could get was February, not sure if anyone else managed to get anything earlier but there wasn’t much availability left for February when I booked as far as I am aware xx
Haha, that’s ok, I’m pretty sure they would say that though. I know that if you were booking now for April you would have to pay the deposit to secure your date, then the final payment is 51 days, that’s what I was told anyway. But I actually booked in September and I had my op in November, I paid the deposit in September but I didn’t actually pay the full balance until mid October but that was only because I had to get a letter from my previous surgeon and I had a sickle cell scare, they were calling me for payment but I wanted to get those issues sorted and know I could definitely have it first x
Hi holly well my pc is saying there’s very limited availability so I’m in 2 minds what to do =( as I’m thinking spaces could pop up now and again in between. I’ll be paying over the phone aswell. Did you get a receipt? Xx
Yeah I know what u mean Shelly just thinking there only saying it to get the deposit. I would of done the same in your situation. Do they pester you for full amount orr? Xx
I got a text which said they had received payment and the money had been credited to my account with them.
They then gave me a personalised care plan which tells you how much you have left to pay, but I didn’t get a receipt after I paid all mine off. I just emailed my PC to make sure I had nothing left to pay and I have my bank records which shows I’ve paid xx
But I don’t know if you can move your op date after you book! I’m not sure on that, have to see what your PC says xx
Yeah you can move dates forward but it costs to move to a later date. Still in 2 minds what to do. A little nervous for booking aswell and I don’t know why lol! Ah that’s ok thn but you would think you would get a full receipt saying you’d payed it all. Strange xx
I was a bit worried when I didn’t get any confirmation of payment when I paid it all off in one go! Luckily I emailed my PC for email confirmation to say it had been received! I got a bit worried haha!
I was so nervous/excited booking mine even though it isn’t until February! xx
Hey Hun the soonest they could get me in after I paid was 6week later the was the only slot they had and that was at a push she had to move people around as I was having a moan that I wanted them done before my holiday xx
I’d be worried aswell holly it’s a lot of money to pay to not even get a proper receipt. Maybe it might be best to book then, I’m just worried in case I haven’t got the full amount by then. Might have it alot earlier it just all depends. I’m hoping I can get a late space if I do get the cash earlier. I can either get booked for end of march or back end of April xx
Spaces do go quickly so if you don’t book now you’ll risk having to book later than April. You’re not going benefit by holding off booking and you’ll have to pay for it at some point so why not get it booked and bring it forward if you’ve saved enough earlier than expected.
The MYA paperowork does say that there is a charge for moving the date (three tier pricing structure) but I doubt they will charge you as this is the PC’s recommendation but it’s worth a check and getting it in writing. I moved my date 10 days before my op and wasn’t charged.
Xx
Thanks for your help girls! Think I am going to just book it so I have a secure place in case the spaces do fill up quick but I’ll deffo double check that I can move forward for no extra charge if I do happen to get the cash together earlier. Xxx
Hi Lauren i paid my deposit at end of july ajd booked surgery for 20th december. In sept I found out that i couldnt get the full week off work and also i was going to be a little short for the funds. Jan and december always awkward for paydays. I just text my pc and we rebooked for 24th Jan this then gave me an extra month to get the money and I wasnt charged. I transferred money by bank transfer when i had it and asked ny pc to confirm receipt. I am now booked and paid for 24th Jan. I would suggest getting a date secured and if needed extend slightly.
Thanks for that Hun, I’ve now booked for may just to secure a date in case worst came to worst and I didn’t have it for April. I’m hoping to get it before my date though so I can bring my date forward, booking has gave me more motivation to save every penny I can as I’m wanting it done soon as possible really, preferably before the weather starts to get warmer. My pc did say to me I can easily bring the date forward but to extend it there’s a charge of £150 this is what I was worried about before I booked but fingers crossed I’ll be ok xx
I never got charged for extending but i did tell her when i booked that there was a possibility i would need to due to the original date being so close to xmas (dont get my rota til closer) and also depending when wages being paid. She said as long as i told her asap it would be ok and i changed it about a month later.
