I have anxiety and was put on citralopram 10mg in jan but stopped taking them in sept without telling my gp but i feel fine, actually better being off them. I just want to know should i tell my doctor im planning on getting breast surgery. Im also afraid she wont let me. Also should i tell them in my consultation i have anxiety or will this delay everything?
I took anxiety tablets go4 a brief while around 3 years ago and I advised the consultant of this. Nothing was every mentioned and everything seemed fine. I think the best thing for you to do is just ask 🙂
The clinic will contact your GP to get a medical history. It’s probably best to go see the GP to let them know you’re considering/ having surgery and to tell the clinic upfront. If you are off the meds that’s a positive no?
I read from others that you needed a doctors letter so I asked my PC and she said it would be required so I got a note in advance. I’m having my pre op today so I will let you know what they say about my letter. xx
They will get your medical history from the doctors for the last three years and the will want to know you are no longer on the medication and no longer in need of the medication. They usually say you need to be off it for 6 months but ultimately it will be the surgeons choice. If you can get a note from the doctor before hand it will help with delays Hun x
I asked this question too, I’m on it for sleep! I had sertraline but had an allergic reaction to it. I just don’t want it to hold things up, I’ve been waiting for this for so long! Disheartening to know I may have to wait 6 months :'( xx
