Hey girls so my op is tomorrow! So excited but can’t help but feel I’m forgetting to pack something! Last minute nerves I guess! Can any post op girls who stayed over night offer any advice on what to pack? Thankyou xxx
Hey hun I stayed overnight in December
You really don’t need much as they provide slippers and a dressing gown (plus towels I think)
I brought along some face wash, toothbrush/paste, slipper socks, magazines, headphones, complan shake sachets (meal replacement) dried fruit, mint humbugs (for sore throat after tube down throat) juice and my phone charger. Button up popper shirt amd t shirt to change into the next day, sports bra and tracksuit.
Some people find bringing a pillow for the journey home helpful to put between the seat belt I’d ur going by car
I didn’t bring one and I was fine (I had unders and an uplift) bur everyone’s pain threshold is different.
I stayed at the Fitzroy and they had wifi so if u have a tablet thts handy too! hope that helps you.
Goodluck and all the best for ur op! Fxx
Ohh thank you Fran! I completely forgot to pack any toiletries so thankyou for reminding me! Haha. I think I’ll take my v pillow, but they’ll be electric beds won’t they? I couldn’t find any complan sachets so I bought a protein shake but there’s no point me taking it because it’s milk based so can’t imagine warm strawberry milk will be too fresh! Ha Ive never turned food down so I’m sure I’ll be ok with the toast 🙂 xx
Hi hun,
I’m currently in hospital following my surgery and I will be staying over night. One thing I wish I brought with me is a book! There is a TV but you know there’s nothing on telly these days! Even just a crossword puzzle would do haha.
I’ve also attached a picture of the bed next to me, I’m not sure whether this helps so you can see what’s already in the room!
Best of luck xx
Thankyou liz! Ive packed my book and headphones. Thanks for the pic! How are you feeling? Xx
Hi Jess,
I feel fine, no pain whatsoever! I started to stress out before the op but there’s honestly so need and the nurses are so lovely and reassuring. It sorta just feels like someone is slightly standing on your chest!
You’re also given a menu of what to eat in the evening but you can eat whenever you like, where are you having your op? If you’re staying in Fitzroy hotel I’ll send you a picture of the menu xx
I’m so pleased for you Hun! What size did you go? I was stressing over what food to buy to take incase there wasn’t any I liked because I work In a hospital so know it can be slim pickings! but my partners been reassuring me saying how different this will be to a busy NHS hospital! Haha I’m at Preston xx
I had 250cc in my right and 275cc in my left to fix my asymmetry, I think this is why I’m in less pain because the implants are smaller! Honestly the food choice was really good, it’s mostly light meals like sandwiches and salads as a lot of people feel sick after surgery, clearly I’m just a greedy pig hahaha. Wishing you all the best, good luck, you’ll be absolutely fine xx
They gave me milk hun loool! They were really accommodating and o had it after surgery and early before breakfast the following day as o was starving.
Yeh the v pillow is a great idea too! U may wana take some wet wipes or a flannel also If u can’t be bothered to take lots of toiletries the food is really nice also fxxx
Oooh also if u haven’t got one already it may help for u to get a backrest for ur bed from argos. I used it to prop all my pillows and v pillow to keep me at an angle for 4 weeks lool. Was about 23quid. I.founs it really helpful to get comfy and I slept great with it fxx
Thank you liz good luck with your recovery chick! Ive just googled them backrests Fran do you think they’re worth the money? If so I’ll send my partner there tomorrow when he finishes work ready for when I get home on Wednesday 🙂 xx
I defo used mine a lot and still do even tho I got the all clear to lay on my back flat last week. It just converts ur bed into a hospital one lool
I got wrapped up like a sausage roll in blankets and my zip up onesie and slept like a baby. I’d say the back rest and v pillow were my best buys. If ur partner is gonna be on hand for a few days u may not need it as he can help re position u.
It feels uncomfortable for me to lay totally flat cos I’m not allowed in my sidea until post six weeks. See how u get on the first night at home and if u can stay at an angle without toppling over.
Remember u can’t use ur hands to push urself back up at all.so practice tonight shuffling on ur bum. A girl I met on here got really bad back ache and had a lot of trouble I reccomended the back rest to her and she said it really helped but everyone’s different.
I was pretty much alone for most of the day til the evening so I needed something to keep me in the correct position.
Another alternative would be to get a really dense hard pillow like the memory foam ones o think primark do them for 8 quid
U could place tht at the Base of ur back and prop the other pillows on top of it. The main objective for the first few weeks is to not lay on ur new girls or apply any pressure to ur hands/chest muscles. Hope tht helps fxxx
Fran that’s so helpful thankyou! My partner will be working everyday so I’m going to stay at my mums because she’s finished work so I know I’ll get pampered there 😉 ha.. but good idea I will try my first night without and then if so I can always send someone to get me one! Thank you! Xx
