Hiya guys, i have a few questions before my surgery day they are random an probably sound pointless but o well…..

firstly I am really worried about drains like so bad, I’m a woos an dreading these so bad like that is the only reason I am nervous as f* lol. I hate needles but I finally am not worried about that part… what is it like an how long are they in for when your awake? :/
secondly roughly how soon do you get taken to your surgery my admission is at 7am?
I am now having 2 people with me as originally was my mum alone but she don’t feel comfortable driving there so my partner is helping and coming along to, i know they have to take in turns to see etc.. but can they both see me after surgery together? xx

    any help please! xx

The drains are fine when they take them out it just feels like a tugging it it didn’t hurt me at all. I had mine in for 5 hours before they removed them. My admission time was 7am too, I was meant to be 3rd down but because on my latex allergy they changed me to first down, I went down at 10:05 but I think they were running late. I woke up about 11:30 as I slept a bit longer than usual in recovery, so had my drains out at 4:30 and left at 5. My mum and step dad both came, they were both allowed in the room as there was nobody else in the room with me but if you share a room it might be different. If not there’s a big waiting room downstairs for one of them to wait and take it in turns. Hope this helps

I’ve had drains in for other surgery (not boobs yet, still gotta wait for those!) and honestly, it’s not painful. It’s a bit of an odd sensation definitely, but not painful so don’t worry. And don’t worry about the needles either! You might have the catheter thingy in your hand but the nurses are so good at removing them you don’t feel a thing! Don’t worry yourself is my best advice. It’ll 100% be worth it in the long run. Good luck xx

    Hi Beckie
Good luck with your surgery. Try not to worry about the drains. They were fine for me! Just felt a bit of tugging and then they were out! You’ll still be feeling the effects of the anaesthetic and also it means you’ll be close to going home with your brand new boobies :).
I was so quick in the anaesthetic room! Literally felt like I was in there 5 mins. Just one needle in your hand, the nurse was lovely. Then the anaesthetist starting putting the anaesthetic in and said right you’ll be asleep in 10 seconds!
Next think you know you are waking up 🙂 you’ll be fine. Enjoy your day xx

Heya! I went down to theatre at 12.30 and my admission time was 9am so I didn’t have to wait too long, I just napped while waiting cos it was either that or my poor fiancé having to listen to me moaning I was hungry haha.
I came back up to the room at like 2pm.
I had drains, and I had them removed about 4 hours later cos I was in a bit of discomfort with one boob so I had some oramorph and I was just a bit sleepy ha.
It’s a weird sensation and it was quite uncomfortable for me but that’s purely cos I already had a very painful left boob. It’s taken out very quickly and they’re really good, just breathe through it.
A cannula doesn’t hurt having removed because there’s no needle in it.
After I had them removed I got dressed, got given my meds and then went on my merry way ha.
    Best of luck! X

    Hi Beckie
Ha I realised after I sent it. Did it all go ok? Told you you’d be fine :). My recovery has been ok. I expected pain with them being unders so I was prepared. Felt sick the first couple of days and then tightness and mainly pain in my incisions for the rest. My left is definitely worse than my right! Keeps stinging where the incisions are. Mornings are the worst. The pain increased each day but today I have been much better so fingers crossed this continues :). They don’t look big at all but to be fair I did say I didn’t want them huge. I’ve had visions of them being massive for weeks lol… I don’t know why I thought this lol! I’ve literally gone from nothing so anything is an improvement lol. He offered me 300 and 325 in the consultation and I went for the bigger size. I swore I wouldn’t get boob greed lol, but it is true what some girls say. I asked to be a full c small d so fingers crossed. I don’t think my anatomy would of allowed me to go any bigger. I’ll be happy if they are C. I think it’s hard to tell with all the strapping on isn’t it. So you think yours look small too? And yours were bigger than mine!! Fingers crossed for us Hun! How are you feeling now? Xx
