    Hey
So I’m POD19 and my nurse has told me I have to sleep upright for 6 weeks in total! I’m only just coming up to 3 weeks have no idea how I’m gonna handle another 3!
Iv got lots of pillows and a v pillow but I’m starting to get really bad neck aches which then give me headaches and waking up in the night from it
I usually suffer from this anyway but it’s 10 times worse from sitting up 🙁
Have no idea how to cope! Has anyone else been told to stay upright for this long? Xxxx

    Hiya.
I started sleeping on my back with just 1 pillow under my head 2 weeks after my BA.
On my 2 week apointment to get my stitches out I asked my nurse if I could sleep on my back now and she said yes… now I’m confused myself ????

My nurse said the same jess. Im still using the back rest too. She said its to prevent the implants moving under my arms. I tend to slide down and she said thats ok as long as my boobs are more upright than my abdomen.

I got it from argos and i dont think i could have coped without it. Its been alot better than the v pillow. I only used the v pillow for first few days.

I was told 6 weeks too jess. I’ve had the back rest the whole time and it’s been great. After 2 weeks she said it was ok to lower it down a little bit , its adjustable. I’ve actually been quite comfortable, v pillow upside down and a pillow in the middle. I’m almost there now, 6 weeks on Sunday. Would definitely recommend the back rest. It’s around £21 xx

I saw my nurse at post op day 16 and she said I could sleep on my back but not my side? I’m just over 4 weeks now and have been sleeping on my back as normal. Not sure why the advice is inconsistent? Xxx

Hey ladies best to go with what ur nurse has told u as they’re following specific guidelines from ur surgeon.

Take it easy on ur side I’m 11wpo and still can’t get comfy. It’s really weird but the side I lay on is fine it’s the boob I’m not laying on tht gets achy not morning boob ache but just a horrible ache. I only tried to lay on my side around wk 7/8 but reckon I’ll just make do with my back as its not nice feeling at all

Hey Jess I’ve just passed the 3 week mark too and I was told I can lay flat after 2 weeks but to be honest I’m so scared of rolling over so I’m going to stay sleeping up, the backrest is the best investment ever I’m so comfy when I sleep and I’ve always slept on my side! I use a back rest then stick my V pillow on top and stick a small pillow in the middle to support my back then use a neck rest like the ones used on airplanes for my neck and I’ve had no problems xx

Hey girlies, I always thought it was 2 weeks from reading other things but met with the nurse today (8 days post op) and I mentioned to her whether I could sleep on my back after next week and she was like…. Erm, you’ve got another 5 weeks of sleeping upright, I was like erm ok! So I think it’s 45 degree angle for the first 6 weeks xxx

Im getting a stabbing pain in left boob at the moment, came on wen i opened a car door on slope was so hard .. hope i havent done anything to it .. x

Sabrina – oh dear, I hope everything is ok. Maybe get it checked out and email your nurse?

Jess – Haha I was so shocked when she told me. I’m doing ok sleeping upright to be fair but I have at least 8 pillows and cushions helping me to sleep hahaha. I have two normal pillows on top of each other then two V pillows, one small cushion in between both then a cushion for my back going across then another going length wise for my lower back and bum. I then have a pillow for under my knees so I don’t slip down.

I saw a picture before I had mine done which helped me to put my pillows together. Lol ???? I’ll attach it below, hopefully it will help anyone trying to have a good night sleep xxxx

It’s an absolutely ball ache girls but it will all be worth it! X

Thanks for that Becky! I’m gonna have to try rearranging my pillows, it was comfy for the first week after my op and has just gone downhill since lol.
Sabrina hope your feelin better 🙁 maybe just a bit of a strain xxx

So I used the back rest last night and just put my v pillow over it, it was better but instead of waking up all night with neck pain I kept waking up with my bum hurting from sitting for so long again! And iv still woken up this morning with a bit of a neck ache. Starting to get stressed as I’m normally a good sleeper so not used to all this waking up, especially in pain! Xxx

I could lie on my back and side after 2 weeks, I’m 6 weeks now, am I damaging my results by lying on my side? My nurse said I could so I did after 3 weeks as I was abit scared after only 2 weeks! But seeing that you have to sleep up right for 6! I’m scared now hahah xx

I’ve just seen mine today I’m 16dpo and she said she’s happy for me to sleep on my back and told me not to get a back rest as I read all of these and mentioned about getting one, how strange they say different x

So weird! Surely it should just be the same period of time it if was that important lol.

So I finally had a good sleep, rearranged the pillows again with the back rest and it was much better, no neck ache! Yay! But not i need to figure out how to take the pressure off my tailbone xxx

How strange were all being told different. I went for 10day check on Monday and had my dressing all removed and just steri strips and was told i could shower and sleep normally. … x

At my 4th week i was completley comfortable to sleep on my side! Go by how your body feels not just what the nurse said. Its easy for them to say it if they havent had a boob job! xxx

Strange I guess it’s just preferences of the surgeons maybe.

    @cecilychandler

It’s the best feeling ever, but suprisingly for the past 2 weeks (I’m 12WPO now) I can’t get comfy on my side so have to go on my back! I’m in shock really as I think my bum went down 2 sizes from constantly sleeping on it haha!! This journey really is crazy 🙂 xxx
