    Hi everyone,

    I suffered with Postnatal depression last year, I’m on a low dose of anti depressants and had CBT. I’ve spoke to my Pc and she said it should be fine just in preparation she advises me to get a Gp letter stating that I’m stable for the operation.
    I’ve already got one from my counsellor as I thought this would help.

    My preop isn’t till the next month and my op is booked for the beginning of June. I’m literally buzzing at the prospect of having my boobs done as it’s something I’ve wanted for 10 years and feel now is the right time but after reading past posts (some quiet old) I’m just slightly worried it may not go to plan.

    Was wondering is there anyone who has been in a similar situation and is there anything I need to know.

    Thank you xx

    Hi Hun I was the same as you as long as you’ve been on them more than 6 months and the same dose , it’s fine what they’ll do is tell you to inform your doc you’re having a b.a and then mya will fax them requesting the doctor tell them youre mentally stable and been on the same dose . You don’t need to do anything except tell your doc to expect mya to contact them asking for your info . At your pre op you will sign a consent for info to be passed from one another . Then they do the rest. Hope this makes sense . X

    @hayley thank you for replying. My Gp is already aware and I’ve had a chat with her already and she’s happy to do so. Do you think I could get the letter done prior and just take it with me on the day of the preop? X

    I had issues with anti depressants because I hadn’t been on them for 6 months and Mya’s policy is that you either have to be on or off them for 6 months before they will operate. I fought this so much and looked at going with my surgeon directly as he would do the op. I told Mya about it and they said that If my gp and surgeon consent to the surgery they will do it.. it worked and I’m now booked for the 11th of April xx

    Yes Hun you can get a lettter yourself stating that info and give it to the nurse at pre op aswel If it puts your mind at ease then at least you won’t have to chase up anything near your surgery date xx

    @casey I’ve been on them for nearly a year, going to reduce the dose soon.
    That must have been so stressful for you but I’m glad you got it sorted. I bet you can’t wait for the day to come.

    @hayley
    Thanks for the advice, I have my letter from my counsellor sitting here as we speak and I’ll request for my Gp to write one soon as I know it can take a while.

    I understand they have to cover thereself but when you want something so bad the prospect of it being postponed or cancelled is torture. X
