My surgery is booked on 31st May, was just wondering what happens with this mrsa screening and when it’s meant to happen as I don’t want my surgery to be pushed back ????

They take swabs and get them back within a 2 days if you carry it you are told to see your doc for treatment but it shouldn’t postpone your surgery date. You have the swabs taken when you see your nurse for your pre op assessment. Don’t worry about it!! xx

You will have a pre op appointment with a nurse at your clinic. These usually happen a few weeks before your surgery date. MYA should contact you regarding your pre op date.

At my pre op I signed lots of forms and answered questions about my health. I was weighed and my height was taken, my blood pressure was taken. I had my MRSA swabs taken and I had blood tests. Not everyone has blood tests though. Pictures were also taken of my boobs pre op so you can see before and afters (photos are also taken at your post op nurse appointment) I was also given some more information in a pack with things like the MYA emergency contact line should you need it.

I hope that helps a little xx
