I had my long awaited operation last Tuesday at Manchester Highfield Hospital and I already love love love my new boobies!! So I thought I would tell my story as reading other peoples stories really helped to reassure me when I began to worry and regret my decision. My operation was booked in Feburary but D-day came around soooooo quick (too quick) I was picked up by the MYA transport at half past 9 on the tuesday morning by a lovely man called Andy who carried my bags to the car. He chatted all the way down to Manchester and really put me at ease and told me that he would take me to Mcdonalds on the way back home the next day – something to look forward to he said! We arrived at the hospital at 12 noon and I went to reception and was asked to fill out some forms. By this point I felt sick with nerves and wanted to get back into the car and go home… A few minutes later a man came into reception to collect me and showed me to my room as I was staying overnight. There I waited for around 10 minutes when the legendary MR Traynor came into see me and to carry out his artwork; he told me I was second on the list and that I should not be waiting long! He also promised me that I would be ”done” in under 30 minutes which made me feel a lot better Next the anaesthetist and nurses came in ready to take me down to theatre. The nurses helped me into my lovely gown, paper knickers and stockings, took my bloody pressure and walked me down to theatre at about half 1. I walked into a little side room where I met the anaesthetist and two other nurses; one a man and one a woman. They both reassured me that I would be okay and began to insert the canula into my hand. The male nurse held me hand whilst the female nurse stroked my head and face. I did not feel a thing when they were putting the needle in my hand which I was happy about as I was dreading it. Honestly its nothing to worry about girls next thing I know, I was out like a light! The next thing I remember is waking up and feeling so cold, I was shivering really bad so the nurse in the recovery room wrapped me in a duvet and blasted some hot air under the covers. I was then taken back to my room to recover. I did not feel in any pain at all on the tuesday or the wednesday when I got home, it isnt painful it is just more uncomfortable and restricting as I am still unable to lift my arms. I am really pleased with the outcome and am in love with my new assets just cant wait to be able to have a shower, to wash my hair and to be able to wear a proper bra!! Sorry if this is long to read, I just wanted to share my story with anyone who is waiting for their operation and is feeling worried, please dont! It is soooo worth it and has changed my life!! I wouldnt have been able to do any of this without the amazing Julie (PC) from the Newcastle Clinic and the fantastic Mr Traynor who has given me perfect boobs! Xxx
