How I Made My Home The Envy Of My Girlfriends

The living area of my humble abode was one of those dull, bland looking, run-of-the mill interiors.

Nothing unique, certainly not the talk of the block in any way, shape or form.

Truth be told, I disliked it, still I would never ever share that with my hubby due to the fact that I understood how stressed he was already. He had plenty to worry about simply bringing home the bacon.

At this point our house is practically the envy of my female friends (although they’d never ever inform me to my face)!

What did we do?

It all began when my hubby and I were chatting and I realized he also didn’t enjoy the look of of our house.

So we took a cue from our nearby cafes. We would go visit them to do “research” and really took notice of the comfortable color schemes, furnishings and art options and so on.

One remarkable cafe component we included in our home (and among my favorites) was something that is all the rage right now: chalk.

There are two types of chalk: ordinary (like the school ones) and the newer liquid chalk format.

The liquid chalk comes out in a (you guessed it) liquid and writes very smoothly.

The lines are bold (specifically the white) and look striking against any type of darker background.

Cafes utilize liquid chalk markers a lot for their menus and “specials” signs–that kind of thing.

But the liquid type is extremely strong so it is usually there someplace in the cafe if they are already jacked into the benefits of liquid chalk.

Restaurants have their attractive looking menus, and as of now so do we in our happy home–plus we have a bit more.

For example, we’ll note what’s for dinner that day, write love notes to each other, jot down short grocery lists (which we grab images of so we remember what to buy), and other little things like quotes, etc..

The end result? The chic-est house on the block (sez me)!

I admit: I’m secretly praying my girlfriends are really envying the situation. However, I’ll never truly find out.
