Why did you want the procedure? |
My nose never really bothered me until about the ages of 14/15 and this was due to my nose changing, it got bigger and more boney and defined and I hated it. Some comments were made which had an affect on me, but I’d always been self conscious about it nevertheless. As I got older it was a weight on my shoulders, I felt like when people looked at me it was all they would see, when really no one ever really said anything to me, and when I mentioned it everyone said that there was nothing wrong with it. I knew however something wasn’t right and it wasn’t the nose that belonged on my face and I decided I wanted to do something about it.

Why did you choose MYA? |
I was recommended by a friend who’d also had rhinoplasty through MYA around 5 years ago. I also looked at surgeons from all companies and really liked Dr Andreas work, so I chose to go with MYA.

How was your consultation? |
At first they were very brief, but because I know what I wanted I knew as soon as I met Dr Andrea that he was the surgeon for me. He told me everything he thought could be changed about my nose, and then asked me. I couldn’t say anything as he had already read my mind and from then on I trusted him!! He also doesn’t do morphs which for me was the best thing, i didn’t want to rely on a computer version of a nose and believe I was going to get it and then be expecting that exact result. Uneccesary expectations were wiped away 🙂

How was the day of your procedure? |
Scary!!!! I travelled two hours to the hospital in Preston so I was up and out of the house by 5 which I hated as it meant I had time to get hungry! Once I was there the nurses and anaesthestist were so nice. They made me feel at ease and this calmed me right down. I had to wait several hours for my op and I got really nervous! I’m so scared of things like this, I was surprised I even got to the hospital. However I think the determination for me to get it done was enough and nothing was stopping me!

How was your recovery? |
I have to say I was extremely lucky with my recovery. Of course I had a broken nose but I didn’t suffer from any sickness, pain or too much swelling. I did bruise but I didn’t get black eyes and all my bruising was gone after several days. The only thing I hated was that I lost my taste for two weeks! It was so hard to eat and not be able to taste a thing, especially when you love food!!! My nose has healed well and luckily I don’t suffer from too much swelling and I’m POM2/POW10.

Are you happy with your results? |
So far I am extremely happy. I cried when I realised my old nose was gone forever, I had no idea or any expectations as to what my nose was going to look like. It’s the nose I was supposed to have. People can get photos of me and I won’t sit and criticise and cry over them for hours, instead I’ll be posting them straight away with no worries! It is definitely a rollercoaster journey, my confidence isn’t at 100% yet, but I didn’t expect to gain it over night, there are good and bad days, but I have no regrets! I still forget about it sometimes and feel shy when people look at me but I’m getting better and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
