Off topic but any weight/ exercise experts here?

I weigh 9st 5lb, height 5’6, and I’m a size 12 (sometimes even 14 on bottom, yuck!). Put most of this on after my BA as I was always a stead size 10 before this. I want to get down to a size 8 and worked out i need to lose about 17lbs, my weekly goal being 4-5lbs. I’ve started eating healthy foods and exercising nearly every day (trying to get up to every day/ twice a day). I’ve been really concentrating on what I’m eating and just worked out that I rarely get above 1000 cals per day! I have no idea how this can be as I always feel full and only eat what i want, not less.

I’m pescatarian (no red or white meat) but eat plenty of eggs and drink semi skimmed milk. Here’s what I ate yesterday – cornflakes with milk, 5 oatcakes with natural cottage cheese, carrot sticks, 10 pistachio nuts, then mixed veg (asparagus, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, aubergine), brown rice, 3 quorn chicken style fillets and creamy sauce, then a banana with natural low fat yoghurt. That came to about 1000 cals total yet i was stuffed! It’s also a struggle for me trying to eat every 3-4 hours like most health experts suggest. I’ve found i spend the whole day trying to plan my eating!

I’m aware that on less than 1200 cals a day it’s possible my body could hold onto the fat thinking i am starving it, and i want to avoid that. So how can i get more cals and lose weight? I am burning around 500 – 600 cals a day through exercise.

Also can anyone recommend a good weight loss forum?

    Thanks a mil :D xxx

Im not a dietician but I’m guessing your body is holding onto fat as it feels you are starving it, I’m 5ft 5 and 9st and a size 8. I use the gym and also burn about 500-600 cals in my gym session to maintain my weight I eat about 2000 calories of clean food every 3 hours. Lifting weights means the more muscle you have the more calories you burn as muscle burns 3 times the amount that fat does. Hope this helps.

both my hubby, nan and aunt are on the cambridge diet which only like 500/600 calories a day. all they get is 4 ‘meals’ a day (these ‘meals’ are just specials bars or a shake or soup theyget given). aunt been on it couple weeks and has already lost 16lbs but shes quite large anyway (hate saying that as shes amazing) but hubby and nan only just started this week.

when i wanted to lose weight after my daughter though i drank cho yung tea (sells in holland & barrett but is cheaper on ebay). its two herbal teas a day and i was losing a lb a day xx

Oh that’s 2000 calories spread through the day and I eat very 3 hours. You should never go below 1200 calories it can slow your metabolism down. So if you wanted to consume 1200.cals on the days you work out eat say 1800 and on your rest days say 1400 1200 is very low. Your looking to lose 2lbs a week.at that rate you will keep it off. Eating smaller meals more often will rev your metabolism.

Yep I’m eating 4 – 5 times a day, sometimes 6 depending if i get up early enough as I’m also trying not to eat after 7pm. I do weights, cardio, PT sessions, zumba, and swimming at gym. The thing is, i’ve always eaten around this amount of cals, even before i was consciously trying to eat “healthy” unless i had chocolate binge lol. Probably because i don’t consume any meats. I’m not entirely sure HOW I could eat 1800 cals a day short of consuming a tub of icecream on top of what I’m eating now :-/ I want to lose 4-5lbs a week though not less as this isn’t too unhealthy.

I looked @ cambridge diet jl but in the end i’d rather set up a healthy eating plan that means i can keep the weight off and not yo-yo as many of these diets tend to do. Never heard of that tea though, i will look into it, thanks :D

newboobies 1800 cals is only 300 cals a meal, a chicken breast, sweet potato or brown rice and veg will easily do that, or a protein shake a banana and 10 almonds. If you eat foods like that you wont get fat, the icecream however will go straight to your belly as its full of sugar. Good luck x

Are u working out 7 days a week!? If so that’s too much! U need to rest ur body!!! Have a look at paleo diet. It’s a way of living really I did it through allergy reasons n it works !!! U need to do alot of weights to make ur body burn for longer ånd do intensive cardio. Not ages on cardio. Short sharp bursts. The same cardio all the time and same routine can lead to fat!!! 2lb a week is more healthy. Also my bf being a personal trainer says u shouldn’t count calories as ur constantly burning them u should be looking at fat content n eat lean n clean like some one said above xxx

I dont eat chicken. Quorn is much lower cals and fat so would b less than 300 cals per meal. I gym about 4x per week atm, cardio for 25 mins then the machines n swimming or a class (spin or zumba)that paleo diet sounds interesting. Have you used it?

Try not to count calories it’s nutrients and fat u need to count. Calories really don’t mean anything u can burn calories just eating ur meal!! Look into paleo there’s books on it and online! I started it 2 years ago lost about half a stone in 2 months but that was not meaning to and only doing yoga. I used it as a way of finding out my food intolerances so wasn’t a diet! But can be as u eat what we used to eat a cavemen. Only what we could of eaten Thousands of years ago!!! Take a look. I’m starting the caveman diet soon which just means a major body detox before starting paleo again as a way of life! :). It’s amazing
