So here it is ladies – my time to repay after having stalked this forum for months on end prior to my surgery.
Surgeon: Dr Monuir – Excellent. Friendly, honest and respectful. I asked for him specifically due to extensive reference check on here and I was spot on. It is clear that the man cares about the end product and he will blankly refuse to do something which will look ridiculous on you.
PC: Alison – Manchester. Ridiculous. I saw her once, she rarely replied to messages and I even had to complain to a manager when appointments got cancelled with little to no communication. Most of what i heard was out of office messages or txts to other girls incorrectly sent to me. She managed to win me over again but then failed to show at my pre-op 2nd appointment despite telling me she’d be there. No explanation – nothing. Didn’t even hear from her post operation. I will do no further communication via her.
Manchester Manager; Lovely. Offered me apologies and discount when Alison messed up.
Hospital; Preston First trust. Wow – such a quaint little place with the loveliest nurses packing a great sense of humour. I felt very welcome and was completely at ease despite arriving solo.
Sleeping; The first 5 nights i created a bed on my 3 seater so I couldn’t roll to the sides. Duvet under me, specialty 45 degree pillow + V pillow. Ive slept for 8-10 hours every night since
Bra: i purchased the M&S zip up post operation bra in a size up on the back to allow for swelling. Stupidly comfortable and i have bought another in 32 as my swelling is waaay down
Time off work: 2 weeks. It’s needed. Couldn’t do much myself for the first 5-6 days and only just have been able to comfortably open doors, walk for 30 mins + and tie my shoes. I can now also get a shirt over my head and put my hair up (win).
Pain: mostly burning sensation on incisions, tightness (like something stuck to the chest) and muscle spasms. It’s not great but not as bad as I expected. Im off the meds now and pretty pain free. Still feel tight chested though.
Bloating; ohhhh the bloating is real hahaha. I can only explain it as 6 months preggers belly with twins.. Just accept it. It’ll go once you get off the meds i promise.
Food: i bought loads of ready meals from the fresh food isle in ASDA for convenience and to keep calories low. Also had protein bars and plenty of fresh fruit. I pre-ordered another delivery for day 6 where i knew someone was here to help me unpack – i found it best to just assume I would be helpless. Worked a treat.
Hairwashes: most hairdressers do blow drys for £15-20. I factored 4 of them into my operation cost and pre-booked them. The first one at day 5 where I assumed i would be more mobile. Timing was spot on – I didn’t really care the first 4 days. Wouldn’t have been able to walk there before even if i did care either.
Hygiene: I showered lower body and used baby whipes for the rest
Advice: avoid the temptation to check out your babies until your 1 week check up. I resisted and had the all clear so dont need to go back until week 6.
Thank you so much for this. My op is next week and your post has really helped me know what to expect!! X
Small update at 19DPO
Dry flakey skin: yeah that’s a thing – nice one. It falls off like dandruff does. Makes you feel really gracious haha. I’ve started moisturising the fuck out of everywhere that isn’t my boobs to counteract. So far: success
Showers: I was cleared for showers at my 1 week checkup however purchased waterproof dressings to put over my incisions as i am overly cautious. Yesterday I shampoo’d my hair for the first time in the shower by tilting my head back and ensuring all the residue went backwards. Still using the waterproof dressings as precautions.
Driving: went on my first drive today. Zero issues and didn’t kill anyone so im calling that a win fo sho.
Activity level: i am able to walk fast paced walks now with no pain so definitely on the up. Also doing no weight squats at home. Im going to hold off with the gym for another couple of weeks – better safe than sorry and all that jazz lol
Bloating: gone
Pain: nothing bar the slight morning boob pain (you know which one i mean)
Telling others: the world knows I’ve had enhancements – been vocal about it as i think it’s a needless taboo. My money, my body, my decision. Everyone has been extremely supportive
Sleeping: still at a 45 degree angle with duvets on each side to stop me from tilting either way. I think im the odd one out as I sleep like a baby
Boobies: getting fluffier by the day and i am as in love as i was on day 1. Let’s see how i feel when they drop but for now; the perfect size for my frame and i am mega happy i let Dr. Monuir make the sizing decision
