Hi All,
So today is my first day post-op and I thought I’d write a quick review for all those going into the first stages of BA.
Yesterday was so so much easier than I could have imagined. I was seen relatively quickly, really put as ease by the staff (who were all lovely) and my surgeon, Mr Traynor (who is just an absolute hero).
Anaesthetic was nothing to worry about at all. One minute I was chatting to a nice lady about her trip to France in the summer, the next I woke up asking how it had all gone 🙂
I just took some pjs, small snacks, some pumps to wear to walk around the hospital and a cushion/blanket for the drive home (the pillow I have to say was very very welcome especially as the small road out of the hospital at Preston is very bumpy).
Last night I finally got to see Mr Traynor’s work and I have to say I’m already I’m really really happy. 1 side (which was slightly smaller and has had an implant 25cc larger to correct it) needs to drop to match the other but aside from that I’m very pleased.
Appetite was a little off but I ate the food they gave me as I hadn’t eaten since my tea the night before and was only out of surgery at 2pm. Ate a good amount of my tea last night and some sweets after just to get a few extra cals in.
I slept ok last night albeit work up a fair few times – mostly just 20 or so mins before my meds were due which my boyf got up and gave me. He has been amazing.
Today is my first day at home alone as boyf is off to work. He’s fully set me up with everything I need so hopefully today shouldn’t be too tricky. I wouldn’t advise anyone to do this without someone to look after them – couldn’t have done this without him. It’s surprising what you can’t do!
Pain wise – I woke up from the op been pleasantly surprised. Just a strong tightness in my chest. Journey home hurt my incision on the right a few times but pushing the pillow against me slightly helped prevent movement. I managed to sleep in bits and bobs last night so was not in too much pain for that. This morning I had a strong ache in my chest when I first sat forward and one of my implants is riding much higher than the other today and feels tight. Once I’m settled with enough cushions though it’s alllmmost as if it hasn’t happened.
Anyway below I will post a pic of my before and after (after being the evening after it was done) as well as a pic of my survival pack for the day (excluding the fresh stuff I have in the fridge which involves a LOT of fresh fruit, vanilla yoghurt and a fresh chicken salad made up by the boyf last night).
I hope this has been helpful. Will keep you all updated xxx

Hi Sam,
I’m afraid I don’t have a strap so can’t give any advice on that front. Perhaps contact your PC and see what she thinks as she’ll have direct contact with your surgeon.
Em xx
