Hey Ladies,
SO 24 hours post op so far! Have to say Im feeling far more comfortable than I thought I would. I wanted to use this post for any of you ladies coming up to surgery to ask any questions about what to expect.
What an experience yesterday was! The nurses at Mya in Fitzroy are without a doubt the most wonderful and caring people. In particular one who sprang to mind is one of the ones assisting the anaesthetist. I am terrified of needles and it took 3 attempts to find a vein and the whole time he held my hand and honestly it made me feel so so much better.
I have to be honest as I know alot of you ask but for my having the drains removed is THE worst thing I have felt in my life. It’s no so much painful but more of a horrible uncomfortable feeling.
Right now I feel im on top of my pain and am taking co codamol. I feel very light headed and slightly thick but mainly thirsty. Just make sure you drink alot and dont dont dont take anti biotics without having food. So stiff this morning and am now going to attempt a baby wipe wash.
Might even attempt a trip to costa down the road!
Any questions please just ask x
I agree the drains feel horrible!! :/ congrats on the new additions 🙂 xx
Oh no! What are the drains?? I get so queasy at things like that!!
Xx
Eek kind if hope I don’t have them in a way! Will find out next sat!! Are you both healing ok?? That’s the bit I’m most nervous about??
Xx
I wasnt expecting them but they were there when i woke up lol. It just turns your stomach having them out its not painful. Yeah healing fine i think lol. I have 2 children and im still managing to get on with stuff. I havent done the school run all week or any hoovering or lifting so hopefully im taking it easy enough. Ive not had any pain so must be doing something right lol. Havent really needed the painkillers much, just more qt night to help knock me out lol!! Ohh bet you cant wait! What size are you having? Xx
I have to agree, I didn’t know about the drains and they were definitely the worst bit for me. Thankfully over in seconds though. I can’t believe how good I feel. Like you I’m taking meds and feel on top of that. Glad you’re feeling well too xx
Now I’m dreading these drains, is the drains being removed short and sharp though ladies, please say yes!
Yes its fine. It takes them literally a few seconds to take it out, just isnt particularly pleasent. Ince theyre out tho you feel much better you can get up and move about x
The drains werent that bad, only one hurt taking them out, the other side i didnt feel! Youll be fine 🙂 x
My nurse to me to take a deep breath in when she pulled the drain out and it wasn’t to bad. Xx
Its not so much the pain that bothered me. I mean its quite painful but its the actual feeling of them being pulled through the breast which feels horrible.
The nurses are absolutely amazing so they will make you feel so so much at ease.
Ive needed my painkillers today and they have been helping. I went out to a coffee shop and then went to the shops but by the time I got to the shops my antibacterials had kicked in and I felt a little sickly.
In my onesie chilling out now :)x
Aw wow I am getting light headed thinking about having stuff pushed round inside me.. I was under the impression from all the posts it’s a simple sedation – op – wake up – leave – recover.. Unless you’re a night case. Seems I was wrong (I type as a heavy feeling pounds my stomach!!) I spose it’s a small price to pay for all that they do for us at MYA… Gonna add you now Charlotte hope you don’t mind congrats on new boobs 😀 :* xxx
I never had drains at Doncaster yesterday so you may be lucky and not get them x
I’m having Mr Traynor this Wednesday for BA and TT. He already told me I need drain for my TT (during my consultation with him), but I’m not sure about the BA. I had drains before when I had C sec a few years ago, and it was a weird feeling when the drain get took out. I remembered feeling like something slicing inside me as the nurse slowly pull the drain out. Not a pleasant feeling but like all the experienced girls said, overs in seconds. When you think about what you will gain, it’s worth it
