I was really excited to meet with my surgeon and find out more about what my options are for surgery, then I met him and within a few mins he told me he won’t do the surgery.
I’m 19, 5 foot tall, 110lb, no medical conditions etc.
My boobs are a bit saggy/low I think, I’d like to have that nice round full look.. All the photos of models on the walls of the clinic had the type of boobs which I’m after, but apparently this is not realistic for me.
The surgeon said if I get implants they’ll be out of proportion on my body and they will sag within 6 months to 1 year, and that I won’t be able to get the boobs I want. I pointed out the women on the walls and he said they all started with very little breast tissue so their boobs are mostly implant whereas I already have boobs and I can only make them bigger and rounder with surgery, but they will still sag so he advised me not to get implants.
He was a bit too blunt and insensitive with me, which upset me more than the disappointment did. Although to be fair he said he couldn’t show me a portfolio of his work due to data protection and there’s no way I’d go with a surgeon without seeing their work.
Surely there are other ladies with boobs like mine who’ve had successful outcomes??
But I spoke to my PC (who was very reassuring and positive) and she’s booked me in to see Dr Andrea next week, as his website shows loads of before and afters and I feel like he achieves very desirable results. I’m also having a consultation with Transform as well.
I’m hoping to find some ladies who have (or used to have) boobs like mine, I’m a dress size 8, 32C but can wear a 34B depending on the shop. Please give me some hope that I can have nice boobs.
By the way idea of perfect boobs is like what @sellisx on instagram has. On twitter she said she was a 32C before and is now a 32E and her op was done 3 years ago by **(if that’s relevant). x
Hey hun, I’m similar stats to you. Was 32C before kids, then 32/34B after breastfeeding. Now 32E. Pics on my profile if u want to friend me. Sorry to hear your appointment was disappointing – I’m confident that with another surgeon you will get the green light for a BA. You seem like a pretty standard case to me. X
Hi Marie, sorry to hear your consultation didn’t go as planned. can I ask who your surgeon was who said this? I’m meeting mine in around 2 weeks and I’m nervous now they might say something like this to me! Your boobs are bigger than mine, (which is more worrying for me that they won’t do anything with yours!) I’m 34b and was hoping to go to a DD/ E .. Good luck xx
Hi Marie, sorry to hear you had a bad experience, it’s supposed to be an exciting time not a disappointment. I would def go and see other surgeons, see as many as you can, I did and it really helped me as when I met the one I’m booked in with he was so nice and patient and helpful, whereas most of the others I saw I wanted to walk straight back out of the consultation!
hopefully you will have more luck with the next person you see x
Ive never heard of people being refused for surgery for reasons like yours I’m a 32b and I’m having my operation in 15 days can I ask which surgeon you saw?x
Hi Marie, sorry to hear of your disappointment. I dont have similar stats to you but I would advice to see as many surgeons as possible, your be surprised how different they all work from each other. I saw about 3 in total and so glad I did as i found surgeon who really listened to what I want.
It was Dr Traynor I saw.
I’m not upset that he wasn’t the surgeon for me, but it was handled way too insensitively. There’s absolutely no need for being so harsh about it and not what I would expect from a private company :/ I want a positive experience start to finish and that doesn’t include being told that I’ll have saggy boobs for life.
They’re not even that saggy? I make a big deal of it in my head but surely they’re not that bad.
If one MYA surgeon says I can’t get the boobs I want and recommends I don’t do the surgery, then the other MYA surgeon says I am a suitable candidate for the surgery, that is presenting a very mixed message. Obviously I’m not a doctor myself, I place my faith in the surgeons professional opinions, who do I believe?
I’m feeling really confused and unsure right now.. I really want the operation but I’m not going to ignore the advice of an expert, that would be stupid?
My surgeon is traynor , he is very straight to the point but personally that’s what I liked. Unfortunately there must be some reason why he refused to operate and I respect him for this , he wants to give you the best results possible and doesn’t feel like he could do this himself. I do then think it’s worth you going to see another surgeon, they might be prepared to take the risk if it’s still want you want . It’s very upsetting for you but it’s better for them to be honest rather then you to do it and be unhappy x
Hi Marie,
My post-op boobs looked very similar to yours but I was a D cup! Originally I wanted an uplift because they were sagging from breastfeeding and were what I describe as squishy. I saw Mr Mounir and I was delighted when he said he felt I didn’t need an uplift (way more expensive and also more scarring) but if I wanted to achieve the fuller, rounder look, I could have 375/400/425 cc implants. I went down the middle with 400cc and I am delighted. There was pre-warning that I may need to have an uplift if I wasn’t happy with the results but I should know more or less straight away. I am into my 2nd week of recovery and I’m chuffed to bits. Mr Mounir went over the muscle and having done some research into this, it seems this is best for anyone who already has a B cup or more. My breasts are now round, full and honestly, apart from when I’m reclined, I don’t think you can tell they are implants. They look really natural.

PS. I had 3 options from my consultation. 1. BA with no uplift, 2. Uplift but not recommended, 3. Do nothing. I guess your option of ‘do nothing’ was just said in a more straight to the point way. I can recommend Mr Mounir if you can get to Leeds or Manchester.
@Hayley thank you for tagging me in this 🙂 @Marie I think I can help 🙂 my pre op boobs look saggier than yours and I was a empty D/DD. My surgeon was Dr.Marcellino at Fitzroy London. He said I was borderline uplift and the more I went back the more he recommended a uplift but I just went for the BA as I didn’t want the scarring right now and I also wanted the chance to breast feed. I had my little boy nearly 2 years ago and plan to have another in the next couple so I will probably have an uplift then. Dr.Marcellino suggested a bigger high profile over implant to fill my empty skin. He offered 375-550cc. I chose 450 and needed one 425 one 450 to try and even out my asymmetry. I think I’ve got a great result. They look natural, full, feel soft and definitely aren’t saggy. Yes they have dropped but I think this looks more natural. With a BA you just have a bigger version of what you already have. So for me that’s uneven heights of my nipples and still some asymmetry (not clear in the picture I’ll upload). I’m 6 weeks post op Sunday and can’t wait to see what my PC and surgeon have to say. Incisions heeling nicely and I’ve had no pain or problems. I highly recommend Dr.Marcellino so maybe ask to see him. I didn’t see any other surgeons. He is short and sweet whereas I like to go over and over things but I guess he knows what he’s talking about so didn’t need too. Feel free to add me. I have lots of pictures of my journey and will upload more later xx (1st pic- most recent, 2nd pic- 2 weeks post op, 3rd pic- 2 weeks post op) x
Had my second consultation, this time with Dr Andrea. He refused to do the surgery, said I’m not ready.
Basically he said that if I get the implants in 3-5 years I will need an uplift. I had a lot of questions to ask about the scarring from the uplift, when I would need it, what happens if I didn’t get the uplift.. Questions about the implants and what my results would look like, like the positioning of my future boobs and if I would have more fullness at the top of my boobs.. I asked these questions because I would be foolish to get a surgery without asking plenty of questions. I am not a plastic surgeon therefore I need to ask questions to find out what I can expect from the surgery. Seems like MYA don’t want you to ask questions, they just want to tell you “you need 400cc implants and an uplift in 3-5 years” with no discussion of what the future boobs will look like.. Boobs come in all different shapes and profiles, I’m not great at visualising and I was asking questions to make sure the surgery was right for me, but apparently asking questions means I am not ready.
I’m starting to feel like giving up.. I’m not asking anything ridiculous.. Just slightly bigger boobs which aren’t saggy.
I asked the surgeon why I’m not ready and he didn’t answer me except saying he was rejecting me as a patient.
Left the consultation in tears and feeling really upset and depressed, ended up crying in the hallway.. It is a sensitive topic and I feel confused over what part I went wrong on?
even if I do decide to go ahead with the surgery, it won’t be with this company. The surgeons are neither clear nor helpful on matters, not to mention there was some MYA lady sat in the consultation room as a chaperone and I have no idea why but I felt incredibly self conscious standing there half undressed in front of her.
I give up with MYA. I’m not sure I’m going ahead with the surgery this year cos my time window for the operation date is pretty small (mid September) and that’s just over 2 months from now and it seems I might not be able to get the results I want. I don’t want an uplift, the scars are horrible and I’d rather have my natural boobs.. I’m only 19 and I think the scars from an uplift are too extreme :/
Hi Marie, I had my surgery last Thursday and opted for an uplift with implants with Dr Mounir at MYA. He originally offered me an uplift only which would have lifted me but reduced my boobs by approx 2 cup sizes. I went back to see him again and we agreed on an uplift with 325 cc implants. I think my pre-op boobs were less pert than yours but I’ve attached photos for you. The after photo was pretty much straight after surgery. Before finding Dr Mounir I too had a really tough time with a surgeon from another clinic who only offered implants. All he kept asking me was how big are you prepared to go? I didn’t want huge boobs I just wanted nice perky dd’s. He too left me in tears and me and he really crushed my confidence as I felt there was nothing that could be done. Looking back I just think he didn’t want to take me on because I wasn’t a straightforward ‘pop in an implant’ case. Keep searching, you will find a surgeon that you feel comfortable and confident with. I didn’t particularly want an uplift initially and was petrified of he scarring but once I accepted that I’d never get the boobs I wanted through implants alone I was fine. It’s a case of weighing up how you feel about your boobs now and what you’re prepared to do to get what you want. At the end of the day it’s an expensive choice to make but more importantly it’s a life changing one do you have to be sure that you’re 100% happy with your decision. Good luck and feel free to ask anything. Xx
Hi Marie, Sorry it was so upsetting for you but maybe he is actually trying to help you and give you time to think….your boobs are gorgeous your very lucky! And your only 19..sometime I look back now and think if only someone had said you don’t need that doing your fine. Girls nowadays get an illusioned image of themselves because of media and everything being shuved in our faces. Enjoy your body, your only young..think about it a couple more years no need to rush into. Most men prefer breast like yours to the blown up football look anyway.
