    Hi Ladies! Advice needed…

I’m 4 weeks away from my op and I’m trying to plan work and home stuff to help my recovery. My boyfriend had initially said that he would be able to stay with me but he’s not going to be in the country any more. So I was wondering how many of you gals live alone / recovered alone? What are your top tips and what should I be aware of? Also, does anyone have a dog? I know I’m not allowed to walk him for a few weeks but I have a dog walker, so my question is will having him around for company be a good or bad thing? he’s a 9 year old jack russell 🙂

    Thanks!

    Hi Amy,

I over prepared if im honest haha I meal prepped healthy meals for 2 weeks as I knew i wouldnt really feel up for cooking, as well as making sure everything was cleaned beforehand so I when i got bored i didnt try to clean. I would honestly recommend buying a back rest,(which i set up for when i came back from hospital the morning of haha) for the first few days i had it on the highest it would go, so i could get out of bed by myself unaided as my mum works shifts so couldnt be there all the time. I think its helped me so much as now day 5 po ive been getting myself up and walking around for the past 4 days as and when i like. I also put all of my easy to put on clothes in a drawer i left open, because i knew I couldnt open a drawer for myself PO either. It may also be worth keeping some cups/plates/kitchen stuff on your worktop so you dont have to reach up to get anything.

My dog has been the lovliest companion hes been sat by me constantly, I think hes realised he cant jump up at me at the moment.

Hope this helps slightly, Everyone is different with the healing process though hun best of luck with your surgery 🙂 xx

I really underestimated the recovery. I’m 2days PO now. I can get myself up out of bed etc, but I can’t open the front door, I can’t get a top on myself and couldn’t pull my pj bottoms up either. My partner only had off the day of my op, so yesterday a friend came to see me whilst he worked, and the same again today. I can’t really do much myself other than sleep- even that’s a task! I didn’t bother with the meal prepping as expected I’ve lost my appetite. It took me all yesterday to get through one meal just picking at it. I’m just drinking loads of water. I’m not trying to scare you, but I read a lot of posts thinking ‘recovery doesn’t sound too bad, I’ll be fine’. Good luck with your op! Xx
