I’m currently sat on my sofa, feet up with my lovely boyfriend cooking for me so I thought I’d post my story here for anyone who’s a little worried or apprehensive about the procedure.

I ‘checked in’ to Highgate hospital at 7am this morning with my boyfriend who drove. After filling in a simple form and waiting for about 10mins a friendly porter came to take us to my room, helping me settle in an explaining all about the bathroom, TV, phone etc (funnily enough neither myself or my boyfriend could understand his accent but we had a little giggle about it once he’d left)

Soon after a lovely nurse came to weigh me and measure my height and asked me to dress into my hospital gown and very flattering paper knickers.. Ha ha! She also took my blood pressure.

My surgeon, Mr Cha was with me by 7:45am. A man of little words but lots of skill, he took some photos of my chest, drew on my then asked me if I had any questions. I had 285cc submuscular as I wanted to boost my 32B cup size without looking fake. As I have a pretty small frame (size 6/8) Mr Cha also ordered smaller implants just incase they couldn’t fit the larger in theatre (luckily, they did). My anaesthetist who was also very kind, came in to say hello and check my medical history.

By 8:30am I was kissing my boyfriend goodbye and walking with the porter down to theatre. He was really lovely and comforting, asking me about where I was from and generally putting my mind at ease as he could obviously tell I was nervous. I’d never had an operation, anaesthetic or even been in a hospital bed before so I had no idea what to expect. The porter walked me straight into theatre where I immediately burst into tears, not because of any specific reason but because I’d worked myself up on the walk and the theatre was a ljttle overwhelming. I would advice that you prepare yourself for this, if I knew it was coming I may have been a little more relaxed. The staff however were amazing and soon turned my frown upside-down.

I was administered my anaesthetic and before I knew it, I was awake and it was all over! It went so quickly in fact that I told the anaesthetist that it hadn’t worked, un aware that I’d had surgery!

I can’t remember being taken back to my room but I know I was in a lot of pain. I called the nurse who gave me 2 tablets then a syringe of liquid and soon enough, I was pain free and comfortable.

I was in and out of theatre by 9:30am! I was fed some toast then later some lunch (yuck) and was discharged with a bag on medication by 1:30pm! The whole thing was a walk in the park and I’m so glad i went through with it all. My top tip would be not to work ourself up and stay relaxed throughout, you’ll be fine and well looked after.

Good luck and feel free to ask any questions, I’m happy to help and will keep updated with my progress over the next months! x

i think by the time your going for your op, you’ve spoke to lots of girls, asked all the questions you needed to, looked at lots of pics by lots of diff surgeons as well as lots by your own surgeon that you feel so prepared and weighed everything up and decided its what you want, that by the day of your surgery your just so relaxed and looking forward to it! Thats how it was for me anyway!! it’s such a more pleasant experience if u know what your getting yourself into and are prepared! xx
