A few questions if anybody can help plz??

Hi girls firstly my op is tuesday & im full of a cold i have been taking paracetomol honey and lemonade its not even budging?? Secondly i rang my gp friday tp ask if they had done the doctors not they new nothing about surgery phoned mya they told me i didnt need one?? Thirdly i havent had a blood test?? Is this normal im absolutley convinced im gonna die !!

Hi Donna, this was a nightmare of mine that I would fall ill before the op as so much preparation goes into it beforehand. I would speak to your pc. I’ve read they still do the op with a cold but depends on how bad you are and that would be accessed. With the doctors is that your medical file from the gp or did you ask the doctors for a sick note? I think mya can give you a sick note. As for blood test I thought everyone had blood test before hand and they do this when they do your mrsa swabs? I really hope everything goes smoothly for you x

I think maybe you should just give them a ring and just confirm with them that everything is in place ready for your surgery. Ive not heard before people having it done without no medical records or bloods given to ensure your fit and well for surgery. I could be completely wrong and someone else on here could correct me. X

Hi Donna I didn’t have a blood test as I was fit and healthy and do not smoke or drink, if any of these apply to you then that’s why, they would only do blood tests I think if they thought that something may come up and it covers there back and gives you the all clear.. hope this helps xxx

Thank yoi for your replys i rang in friday amd they said it was allf ine they didnt need one i just dont get why they dont when 99.9 of the people on here have?? Chelsea i dont smoke or drink i do reme. Er her saying i was fit and healthy i just dont get the doctors note bit xx

Hey Donna I haven’t been in touch with gp at all either neither have I been advised too, and it’s only when I saw comments on here it got me worried. I didn’t have bloods either just mrsa swabs, so that’s no biggy. The nurse phoned me the other day just confirming my medical history so maybe that’s all they needed to do,
I forgot to mention to her at the time though whether I need to bring anything with me on the day from the gp. (My surgery is Tuesday too) xx

Hi jess i dont even no what made me ring them i just wanted to maje sure the lady on reception said nothing had been requested so i rang mya and they said i didnt need one.. who is your surgeon are you at preston? How are you feeling? I cant wait for morning to check that everything is in place xx

Oh babe just chill tonight you sound so stressed bless u! I think I’m that laid back I’m horizontal! Ha.. I’m not too worried about the gp, the nurse asked me questions and I answered them, I guess if you went through your past medical with the nurse etc then there’s not much else they need. If your really worried why don’t you ring tomorrow and ask to speak to the nurse to go through everything?
I remember them asking about my gp a while ago but I think that’s just so they can write to them to let them know we’ve had surgery etc, maybe the woman on reception just wasn’t aware they were writing to your doc? :/ I really don’t know.. sorry I’m not much help but if you do phone would u let me know too please? I’m at Preston yes with dr Traynor, who are you with? Xx

And i am stressed i have hardly slept all week thinking im not going to wake up and now this i did ask her on friday if i needed one and she said no you are fine i just dont get why they dont when everybody else has xx

Hey Donna,
I was ill before my surgery too! The doctor just asked me on surgery day if I’m coughing up any phlegm which I wasn’t so was all good. I did still have my cough afterwards though and it really hurt to cough but the doctor also said the antibiotics they give you for after the op will help my cough go away. In regards to the doctors note this was something I was paranoid about too so I went and got a GP summary printed out from my doctors and took it to my pre op and give it to my nurse (its just basically your history and any current/previous medication) but I don’t think I needed to do that really as mya apparently check anyway, I didn’t have bloods either as I didn’t have a medical history they were concerned about. Try not to worry yourself too much you absolutely won’t die you’re in very safe hands and when you get to the hospital I’m sure you’ll be reassured by the staff as they are all amazing! You’ll honestly wake up and wonder why you was so stressed out, trust me I know exactly how you feel! Xxx

Thats where im up in the air mya havent checked because they havent even wrote to my gp and when i asked they said they didnt need to i dont get why im not coughing anything up just nose running and headache i have never wanted monday morning to come round so fast in my life xx op is tuesday running out of time xx

I didn’t have any blood tests done either as they said nothing concerned them to have to do them which I was happy about! I haven’t been told anything about a note from doctors either? I’m worried the same as you though! My op is next Monday and I’m full of cold too hope it’s gone by then! Good luck for Tuesday

I didn’t check if they did actually check either I just left it after my pre op tbh but if they said they don’t need to then you should have no problems and I’m sure surgery will still happen, and that’s good then, honestly you should be absolutely fine! I’m sure they would of called you if there was any problems by now. Xxx

Hi I am with mr traynor on Tuesday too, I have to be there at 8am so hopefully get it done early as possible as I know I’m going to be a nervous wreck on the morning as Iv been so calm about it the whole lead up! I didn’t have blood tests and I haven’t spoken to my gp or anyone I hadn’t even thought about it! I haven’t been told that i need to take anything, not even id but surely they will need something to know it’s me or anyone could rock up pretending to be me haha! I’m hoping this is just normal to have lots of last minute panics! I hope you feel better by Tuesday and get your op! Might see you there!xxx
