Alcohol before op

The information I was given by MYA yesterday was conflicting. One information sheet said no drinking 48 hours before operation, another says 2 weeks and the nurse told me 1 week! Any ideas ladies? I am supposed to be going out 6 days before my operation, I hope I can still have a couple of vinos.

Also, has anyone heard of an operation being cancelled because the patient was on her period?

Hey Hun, I was told 2 weeks before the nurse but I drank 3 days before my op and I was fine 🙂 I think deffo don’t drink 48 hours before but 6 days before you will be fine with !!

Hey Caz,
I’m due to be on my period for Tuesday! I was told you are not to wear a tampon, a santary towel instead.
I very much doubt an op would be cancelled for that reason! xxx

How annoying huh! I really can’t see it being a problem. And as for the alcohol I think it’s because it thins the blood so isn’t safe during your GA. However if i remember rightly it takes 4 hours to soak up 1 unit…. so as long as you don’t go ovebroard u should good I reckon! x

It will be 6 days before my op and I will make a point of only having a couple (it’s champagne afternoon tea – I can’t resist the bubbles!). After that I will be a good girl 🙂

I was on when I had mine and a lot of other girls was aswell its fine just tell your nurse its just so they no your not preg xx
