It’s finally all over. Admission was 3pm, went down at 4:45 and come round around 6:30. However I’m in soooo much pain. Can anyone recommend anything that will help me?! They had to give me two lots of morphine in recovery as it was just unbearable.
I’m back in my room as I’m staying overnight and I’m trying to get by but this is ridiculous x
Bless you just keep asking for the morphine as long as your there ?
@hayley051110 I feel like I’m going to be asking every 20 minutes haha. It’s probably just the band and strapping but it’s so so heavy x
Ice packs did wonders for me Hun! I honestly felt like I was going to explode lol first 3/4 days was my worst but I’m now 10dpo & no pain at all. It does get better with time, get plenty of rest where possible x
@lisalou84 They’ve been suggested ice packs for me due to the complication I had with my left drain. They’ve obviously started to swell now, I can’t breathe under the breast band lol! Just keep telling myself it’s only for a couple day x
I didn’t have drains or strapping Hun I just had to wear my Macom so I got the easy part! I can’t help you on that I’m afraid, ice packed defiantly worked for me, I also change to ibuprofen & paracetamol because I was so uncomfortable with the bloating x
@lisalou84 I wish I just hadn’t my Macom! I definitely pulled the short straw haha. I’m gonna put some ice on it and see how I go on the codeine for the first day or two and then switch to something else x
Hi Amy, how come your in so much pain?? I thought it was supposed to just feel ‘uncomfortable’ post op? worried now!? Hope you are ok xx
You sure did Hun, I feel so sorry for you Because I know I couldn’t of coped with strapping! That’s what I did I had codeine & paracetamol the first 3 days & then switched, keep on top of your antibiotics too because out of everything I found they worked better with the swelling also, I took a days break off them because I was so bloated with the meds I could tell I hadn’t had them so went straight back on them x
@pearl500 It was just last night really. I think it wasn’t just the initial shock of it all but once the drugs kicked in it honestly was just uncomfortable. I obviously had some complications that weren’t helping with my situation but you will be fine. I was fine after my Tramadol at 9pm and I pretty much just went to sleep.
@lisalou84 It’s the most uncomfortable feeling having this band strapped under your armpits! So annoying. Especially now it’s starting to swell and is pushing against it. You definitely got lucky lol. I’m gonna see how I go! I’ve just taken one of the painkillers they gave me to try and take the edge of the uncomfort and try nap. Gonna start my antibiotics at 4pm so that the 8 hours doesn’t end up being at stupid times of the night and morning, but I know some people that ended up feeling really ill with them? Did you cope okay other than the constipation? x
Thanks Amy, hope you feel more comfortable very soon xx
It really does sound a nightmare…Apart from the first 3 days chick it was quite painful! I was constantly on the move from day 2 due to a family emergency which didn’t help but I also think that’s why I recovered quite quick because I was moving around, I didn’t really get constipation just very bloated but that’s also one of the side effects from the anistetic & codeine on top! I was also put on cafalexin for my antibiotic because I’m already on other medication before hand so they don’t go with your normal antibiotic but I’ve had no problem at all with them x
