Anti depressants

Hi girls, had my consultation today at London, I’m currently on anti depressants will this effect me having surgery? Thanks xx

Hey! In my consultation she mentioned my antidepressants as I had been on them from January 2014 to June 2015 but she said as I had been off them for 6 months that it was fine. I’m sure it will be fine with you still been on them though they will just take no consideration when they write to your Dr xxx

Well when I went for my apt I was on citalopram (40mg for depression) and propranolol (80mg beta blockers for anxiety) I said that the beatablockers I could stop and as for the antidepressants they were fine with just got my GP to send a fax stating the medication I was taking and how long for and I was stable mentally and physically. I got really scared looking at some of the things on this forum some said that it was a big no no to be on antidepressants and hoping to have surgery that you couldn’t have it done etc… Which made me worse because one of the main reasons for me taking them was for my body image!! But after the meet with the nurse and surgeon and my go letter it was fine they didn’t seem fussed!
I booked for my consultation in Birmingham last month and had my surgery 6 days ago in London …. I real,y wouldn’t worry X

Thanks for your reply girls, I’m currently on 100ml of sertraline. I’m physically an mentally fine being on them and I could get a doctors note to back me up but I’m worried that as its such a high dosage they will say no. I don’t no of I need to come off them completely before going ahead with surgery xx
