Hey ladies. Just registered so need some support. Have op booked on Tuesday and I suffer from anxiety which has kicked in and making me have second thoughts. Don’t wan o feel anxiety just excitement. Really struggling on h no smoking front too. Had to hav 1 today now worried they’ll b complications under anaesthetic. Help!
I was exactly the same I had awful anxiety attacks the weeks before but on the day I was so calm I shocked myself lol it’s easier said than done but try not to worry, you’ll be fine under anesthetic they tell you to stop smoking more for it’s effects on healing hun so one now and then to calm your nerves isn’t gonna hurt hun xx
Thanks kristy. I’m oretty bad and have a history of it so terrified I will be laid up afterwards and it will turn into depression again. How long did it take for you to feel right after the op
I had a uplift as well so it took a bit long to get back to normal about 3-4 weeks!!! I have had depression and anxiety for 10+ yrs but I’m med free now but still have up and down days, try not to think about what might happen just focus on how fab your gonna feel after xx
Kristy that’s really helpful. Was worried there was only me who had this history and was thinking to myself “what am I doing even thinking of this”. Realise that I made this decision when I was feeling rational s shouldn’t start questioning now when I’m certainly not! Thanks for the relplies. Hope to stop crying soon! Xxx
Janet you will be absolutly fine doll i smoked lots and on morn of op and after and i take propnol for anxiety and on the day i thought all sorts of madness but i was tot fine u will be awake 1 min then u’ll wake up one happy lady trust me! and you know what since my opp my anxiety has dropped of loads so i think maybe half the anxiety was because i needed to do this for myself!Xx
Thank you Beth. Convinced myself if anything happens it will all be my fault for smoking. I take seroxat for anxiety and anxious situations trigger my OCD but don’t want that to stop me doing what I want to do. Were you quite anxious post op?
I was really worried, however on getting there everyone made me feel really relaxed. I nearly fell asleep whilst waiting to go down!
If you mention to the staff and anaesthetist about your anxiety, I did, They can give you a small sedative injection. It didn’t knock me out, however did chill me out. Next thing, I woke up in recovery for all of 2 minutes then woke up again in my room!
There is genuinely nothing to be worried about, it is such a simple thing.
I was back at work within 2 days, I was achy and sore but nothing unbearable. I work with horses and am a very active person so really from what I’d been told and read I shouldn’t have been able to do anything for a week at least, however its been fine.
