Hi, was wondering if any ladies out there could help me. I’ve been told by my patient co ordinator that mya only do textured implants at the Fitzroy clinic. But after reading other ppls posts I found this not to be the case. I don’t know why my co ordinator told me this. My friend called the mya helpline for me to confirm that they only do textured. But the call take said mya do both smooth and textured! I’m so confused and so upset about my experience. I’m having dr singh. Anyone had him and been offered smooth implants or been offered it by a different surgeon at Fitzroy?? I was only offered textured… But I really want smooth! Please help I need advice on what to do! Xx
Hi Hun, Fitzroy Only Offered Me Textured Implants, They Said That They Are Almost Better For You As It’s a Easier For Your Body Too Accept Rather Then The Smooth Texture As It’s Harder For Your Body Too Grip Onto Them As Such If That Makes Any Sense Lol Hard Too Explain Over This But My PC Made It Sound Pretty Simple & Easy To Understand Lol
HI Jikhan, I’m almost certain no where in the UK offers smooth implants anymore! They are very outdated as they have a far higher risk of Capsular Contracture and shifiting issues like Bottoming out or Double bubble. As far as I know only the US still use them when implanting Saline implants, another thing we no longer use here, Europe is leaps and bounds ahead of the US in cosmetic surgery which is why our complication rates are so much lower!
Can I ask why you want them? They honestly offer zero benefits and it looks as though you would have to travel to the US to have them. Any questions feel free to PM me x
I’m too booked in there and having mr Singh! He is giving me textured implants.
Mr Singh is great! You’re in safe hands 🙂 x
Half My Message Didn’t Send :/ I Just Wondered If You Had Done Any Research Into Why You Prefered The Smooth Texture Too Ones With A Texture Atall, I Havent Researched Into This But Would Be Interested Into Knowing The Difference Lol xx
Thanks for your replies girlies! Yeah I researched on numerous websites and a lot of them claimed the textured ones have more chance of rippling and bottoming out. Also, if the implant needs to be replaced in future your natural breast tissue can attach to the textured implant and therefore some of your natural breast tissue might have to be removed along with the old implant. Sounds terrible puts me right off. But apparently that’s the only type mya do. I hate the idea of that makes me feel :-/. Wish I knew before I paid for my surgery but I wasn’t told. Xxxx
Just so that anyone reading this has the correct info, your own tissue doesn’t become connected to your implant, the implants sit in a pocket the dr makes behind your own natural tissue, a capsule then forms around this, there is no way for your implants and tissue to touch/come in to contact. Also, ripples are more to do with the fill of the implant, the cheaper ones have between 95-98%fill,leaving room for the silicone to shift and create a ripple effect, the higher end such as Soft Touch have a 100% fill, the implant being smooth or textured really makes little difference as these days the textured implants are layered in several layers of silicone shell. Also, smooth implants show around a 35% chance of capsule contracture, when the capsule constricts and crushes the implant, it’s unsightly and painful, the risk with textured implants is more along the lines of 10%. This is why they are not used at all in the UK anymore, mya, the other major clinics and all private practices in the UK use only textured implants. I hope this helps clear things up and any questions feel free to ask. Always makes sure the pages you research from are updated within the last 12months and are from UK sources. Xx
