I’m booked in to have my op on 23rd and was told to try and restrain from lifting my daughter for 6 weeks. My girls are 3 and 1 how on earth am I going to cope?

I can lift my 3 year old (15 kilos) from his armpits onto my knees (with me sitting on the sofa) and that’s painful at 10 days post op, definitely wouldn’t even try lifting him to on my hip (if you know what I mean!).

    Painful xx

I’m 8 days post op and can lift my 2 year old onto my knee whilst sitting down and help her up into my bed etc but haven’t carried her or lifted her into her car seat yet. Probably could do but don’t want to injure myself xx

I know exactly how you feel. I have my op booked on 19th April and am constantly thinking of this.. luckily my hubby will be able to take off work for 1 week, but after that I’m on my own. I think I’m just going to try to find alternatives to restrain from lifting my 1 and half years old for as much as possible but I think there will deffo be times when I’ll have to suck it in and lift with the pain…. ouch, just the thought of it.. x

You’ll be fine Hun after 2 weeks I was about to lift my little one (age 1) into the car and out also in and out of the cot!

She had to accept me not carrying her down the stairs though I taught her how to bump on her bum or held her hand whilst she stepped to walk down! Good luck! Xx

@JENNIE Just wanted to say a lot of girls say day3-4 is the worst pain throughout the whole experience so on these days you may well be thinking I’m not going to cope tomorrow! But just bare with it, it’ll pass Hun!
Just thought you’d like the heads up as I was trying to make other plans to get help with the kids as my husband was going back to work and I was panicking wouldn’t cope!

I had exactly that day 3 for me was the worst ever and I felt like id been hit by a bus, I didn’t move from my bed until day 4 apart from to use the bathroom and even then I couldn’t get out of bed on my own. But on day 4 I got up made me and the husband a cuppa and the kids their breakfast… I was like a new woman! Lol

Obviously I hope you don’t feel as bad as I did and I think it’s very rare that people feel so bad! Just unfortunate for me!

@jonesyc I keep reading about day 3-4 that should be Sunday and Monday for me so fingers crossed if it does end up causing me too much grief I’ll have couple more days

Keep telling myself that if I can cope with 2 c sections, driving a week after both and being back to normal day after having my gall bladder removed I can do this.
    I
think its just nerves kicking in and making my brain going overdrive

I’m just worried that it’s not so much whether you can cope with the pain of lifting and more about whether it can do any damage, particularly with unders as the muscles won’t be fully healed. I’m back at work today, 16 days post op, and dreading it as I deliver car parts and they can sometimes be heavy 🙁

I also have a 3yr old and a (just this week) 1 year old and the lifting thing is seriously worrying me esp as I’m not planning on telling any of my family so no external help other than my husband. He’s going to take a few days off but maybe he’ll need to take more!
