Arnica – how many & how often?

Hi ladies,

It’s two weeks today until my op :O and I’ve been advised to start taking Arnica tablets but am not sure how many to take and how often. The pill box says 2 every 2 hours for 6 doses and then 4 times daily but this seems a lot for before surgery. Can anyone recommend an amount please?

I followed the instructions on the box, but didn’t start taking them till 3 days before my op and 3 days after and had no bruising at all, but there is no medical evidence that it works.but it worked for me xx

My nurse told me to start them 5 days post op – my packet had the same instructions as yours but I did 4 times a day on the 5 days pre-op, then every 2 hours 1st day post op, then back to 4 times a day until I’d finished the pack which was about 6 days post-op. I read somewhere (sorry can’t remember where) that you’re not recommended to take arnica continuously for more than 10 days in a row so this seemed sensible. My swelling went down really quick & I had no bruising whatsoever even with my uplift so I deffo recommend it!!x
