Just thought I would let you know about my recovery so far as this is what I was worried about pre op.
I had 335cc teardrop unders on wed (27th).
Day of op: was knocked out a 2.30 pm woke fully awake by 4.30 felt like a 5 min nap, had lovely tea and toast. Took painkillers was discharged at 5.30 home by 6:30. Felt dizzy and sick but I had been fasting since 8am so ate loads, took pain killers when to bed. Not going to lie, I was pretty uncomfortable, hard to move in bed etc, really needed my husband to help me etc.
1day PO: very sore in the morning, tried to stay In bed and rest but not a very good rester, I was up and about a couple of times, took painkillers every 4 hrs, biggest issue was swollen tummy and tummy pain from not being about to go poo poo (sorry tmi).
2days PO: sore in morning, once up and about I wasn’t too bad, forced myself to try and rest a bit, but even got out in the garden for a ten minute walk. Stopped all pain killer at 4pm. Still swollen tummy, no poo poos, feeling fat.
3days PO: had to take some paracetamol in middle of night as I wa a bit sore and stiff, but those were the last painkillers I have taken. Up all day, didn’t really rest in the day cause I am sleeping fine at night. Had a shallow bath, shaved legs, face mask, painted my finger nails lovely! Practised kids Christmas play songs with them
4day pO: which is today, bit sore when u initially wake but no pain killers needed. Just back from having dinner with my family in town. Feeling much more like me again, great to have clothes and make up back on.
Things I can’t do yet, buckle myself in to car, lift my 15 mth old, (haven’t even tried this) open high cupboards, pull on skinny jeans, exercise (obvs). Hope this helps

Thank you, very useful. Im worried about my 2 year old jumping on me and how to put her in her car seat 2 wks after my on (that’s when I plan to go back to work and will have to drop her off at the nursery) My op isn’t till 17th jan, so I have time to teach her to climb in her seat herself. Fingers crossed =)

I’ll keep you up to date with child lifting duties, I have to manage by myself on thurs (8dayPO) when my husband goes back to work. I have 2 short school runs to do, but I have to get a 15 month old in and out of the car, cot and high chair, will just have to see how I go.

Gosh tash mac that’s amazing. My 15 mths old tried to climb up on me today and I forgot for half a second and nearly lifted him and my right ribs are killing me tonight. Not sure it’s directly related as its not boob pain or scar pain it’s rib pain! Might have to take some pain killers tonight!

I have been lifting my 15 month old since yesterday. I’m 5 days PO. I’m not doing it loads only when there is a real need but I haven’t felt any discomfort in doing so. Carried her up to bed, in and out of car seat and high chair. I know they say not to lift but when your a mum needs must. Just have to get on with it if there’s no one else to help. I have a 3 year old too and he’s been really good. Helping me xx

Hi hun @mumofthree how we’re you looking after your children post op? This is literally the only thing worrying me!!! I have a 13month old! Have you lifted them yet? X

Hey Chloe, I lifted him for the first time today, into his car seat and high chair. I def felt it at the time but not huge amts of pain just uncomfortable. I am fine tonight. I am 8days PO. I don’t know if I could have lifted him sooner but I didn’t even try my husband did everything for 7days as my surgeon was very insistent that I didn’t lift any thing for 1 wk and no arms above shoulder height for 2 wks. So I am still being very cautious as I can afford any re ops.

@mumofthree I’ve only just seen this! I’m 1week post op and my little boy up until now has been taken care of by my other half my mum and a very close friend when the others were having to go to work! But I have been doing much more from around day 5! Like being able to change him on the floor but not lifting him… You have to get quite inventive when you are told you can’t lift them lol x
@tashmac thanks for the add! I cannot believe you were doing all that so soon! I’ve still not lifted him properly as am being very cautious!! X
