    Hi ladies!

I’m due to have surgery in June, my only concern is (apart from the pain) is coping with work during the recovery process.

I work in an office which involves lots of walking up and down stairs all day (our building is an old Victorian style and My office is top floor – about 6 flights).

I was planning to take a week off work (as advised) and when I go back to work I won’t be able to do any lifting.

Interested to see how others have coped with going back to work post op, and is 1 week too soon?

    xx

    Hi Laura Jane,

Everyone’s recovery process is different but, to be honest, I don’t think I would have been up to going back to work after one week. I’m now 11 days post op and feeling much better and going back to work next week. I would say try and take two weeks if possible but if not just take it easy when you go back x

    Hi Laura Jane,
Are you having overs or unders? I had unders and i agree with Emily, whilst everyone is different, I don’t think I would have been able to go back after week. I had a relatively easy recovery (17dpo now), but I still needed the extra week to help me heal and feel a bit better. I’m a community nurse which involves a lot of walking, driving and computer work, so not massively hard physical graft, but 1 week wouldn’t have been enough. Despite feeling absolutely fine by day 10 post op, I tried to drive and couldn’t do it, i was 15dpo off before I could.
I think 1 week off may be doable with overs, but i’d suggest 2 weeks for unders xxx

I also work in an office and do three flights of stairs. My job itself doesn’t require much physical labour (accountant) but I definitely found the stairs the first couple of days back a bit hard work! I had a week off as holiday and then worked from home the week after, and that second week I was so tired even without the commute in!
