I used to ride..don’t anymore, but I would say that not only is there the pulling, pushing, lifting, and of course new boobies will be bouncing, (thats all dependent on how much you do), but also stables aren’t exactly the most hygienic of places. I would say most importantly make sure you keep the scars covered up and clean when going back there to start (i know you would’t be topless there haha, but just make sure that no germs can get in those healing scars!) , and if you have been falling a lot lately, I would think that’s more of a reason to make sure you take it easy! I’m probably not much help as like I said, I don’t ride anymore, but if it were me, I would definitely at least wait 6 weeks, and make sure I got the ok from the surgeon, nurse, etc. xx

So glad you asked this Zoe! I’m an equine sports massage therapist / human massage therapist and I ride too. I’m looking into BA and worried I’ll have to have ages off work , I was told three months off riding by a friend that’s had the same op :/

I was thinking about having the op over winter, more layers to keep covered up and work is quieter / less riding due to weather :/ I’m going to my inital consultation on weds so I’ll ask then if you want me to message you with what they tell me that’s no problem ? 🙂 I have two / three friends that still ride after the op (obviously not whilst healing) and they’re ok. The one thing I did get told was one friend fell off and landed face first, she experienced some pain so went back to MYA for a check up and she was ok thank goodness. Just something to be aware of when falling off, roll and cover boobs 😉 ! x

Thanks Christina! Think I’ll be able to manage 6 weeks! Will get chief mucker-outer/mother on the stables lol!
Natalie I hope it’s not 3 months :(! No riding over summer would be pants. I went for my initial consultation last Monday and I told her that I ride but stupidly didn’t ask how long! She said I could go back to work (beauty therapist) after a week as long as I didn’t go straight back into massage so not sure how long for you as your massage is obvs more strenuous that what I do lol!
Yeah if u could let me know that would be fab :)! Xx

I would love to know the proper answer…I was 3 weeks post-op on wednesday and I have 2 horses…….luckily my mum is mucking them out for me but she doesn’t ride……..do you reckon falling off can rupture them or anything?? I would say about 8-12 weeks before we can ride xx

8-12 weeks! I hope not lol :(! How are you finding it? Hacking out surely must be ok? If they are well behaved? At least I have my sister to ride them..
Yes I was wondering about that too! As I fell off at a show the other week and my boyfriend said “well u would have just popped them now” haha xx

I have my 6 weeks post op in a few weeks I will ask the nurse then as she told me to not even think about riding for the time been. I’m ok thanks I’ve jinxed myself though because I have been saying how I have just been in discomfort (as though someone really heavy is stood on your chest) and not in any pain. Now 3 weeks post-op I am getting pains and twinges lol. I really do wonder if it affects them falling off. Think I might google it xx

    Hi ladies,

    Hi ladies,

I am giving it a little while longer yet until i get back in the saddle. I had my 6 week post op appointment yesterday and i will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow. The nurse said to leave horse riding a little longer yet as i had under the muscle placement. For peace of mind i am choosing to wait until the 12 week mark when i have my follow up appointment with Mr Kazazzi. I also plan on wearing a really good sports bra if anybody can recommend any? Also at long last maybe a body protecter to protect my new assets.

    All the best xx

Hi girlies, I’m a keen horse rider too (I event) and I’m having an uplift with implants (overs) next week!! I’ve been told ill need 6 weeks off riding, but I’ve been speaking to a girl on here who had just implants and she was back mucking out 5 days post op!! Her advice is to just listen to your body and if it hurts, don’t do it. Feel free to add me and I’ll let you know how it all goes xxx

Hey hun I’m a spa therapist & we’re very popular so very busy but I had to have 4 weeks off, 2 holiday- 2 sick as I wasn’t healing very fast but when I went back I got straight into back to back massages again & boy did it help recovery by moving again 🙂 I would just listen to your nurse & your body also, good luck xx
