I’ve just done a credit check and it’s come back as 1 out of 5 I’m absolutely gutted 🙁 my ex boyfriend left me with a loan around 5 years ago which I am left paying but for the least 2 years everything has been paid on time I never miss any payments, I’m so confused! Was hoping to do the pay half and pay the rest over 10 months but don’t think I will be accepted now! Does anyone know of another way I could do it?? X

Hey hun – i had real problems with getting a credit card/loan as my bank had been spelling my name wrong for the last 6 years so no credit reference agencies recognized me on their system! So after a BIG complaint and them amending my name, I went in to my local branch and said I needed a loan for a car (didn’t want to say it was to have my boobs done!) and SO surprisingly seeing as I’ve never had a credit card (other than a Miss Selfridge store card) i was accepted for a large loan to cover the cost of my BA and have now paid the majority of it off and the rest of my balance (which isn’t much) is due 14 days before my surgery date.
Only thing I would say is that the bank have quite high interest rates, I am with Natwest and the interest rate is 26% which I think is quite a lot but it is better to go with the bank that your salary is paid in to as they can see you have regular income and if you pay any direct debits they can also see that you are not missing any repayments etc. xx

Ok thanks for that, I’m going Ito go down to my bank now and see if I can extend my current loan by 2,000 and just increase the monthly payments so It won’t take me longer to pay it off , fingers crossed!!! Really just want to get it booked now 🙂 xx

Just a quick warning though, I tried to put down only half of the amount and pay the rest off 10 months interest free and although they say you don’t require a credit check.. you do! and I got declined xx

Yep I know I’ve got nearly half the amount that’s why I want to borrow the rest so I can pay it full because I’m almost certain il get declined xx

I got mine with zopa found it was lowest apr of 10% (5 year but pay as much as you want off whenever) x

I got mine with Nationwide only pay 5.1% APR. Only paying like £400 more than I borrowed over the 3 years. And it’s not much at all 🙂 x

Been to my bank and they won’t extend my loan 🙁 as I increased it 4 years ago as I was out of work at the time so they said until I pay it off I can’t lend any more, absolutely gutted especially as it was my exs loan but in my name! I’ve now provisionally booked my surgery for September and am hoping il scrape together the full amount by then xx
