    A little tip from gemma555

To anybody who’s suffering from bloating etc, I’ve found that when I’m laying on my back a hot water bottle on my lower belly seems to take the pain and the discomfort away, it helped me sleep better last night anyway might not work for everyone but it’s worth a try I suppose x

one of the best bits of advice I got was to cross my arms over when pulling up knickers, trousers etc. so left hand or right side and vice versa. This way there was no pulling pain.

This didn’t seem to post last night, the best tip I was given is to cross your arms when pulling knickers, trousers up… Ie use your left hand crossed across your body to pull the right side up. This also works for doing buttons up on trousers. I found it pulled much much less and didn’t hurt.

For not straining your new boobs when pulling trousers and knickers up is to use opposite hands, cross your arms over your body and use left hand on right side and vice versa. It is also good for doing jean buttons up too, grab the oppososite sides and pull it that way. I had unders and it made such a difference not pulling the muscles.

    Emotions

With today’s modern anaesthetics, people usually feel well and clear-headed when they come round from a general anaesthetic. All the same, patients may feel they are on an emotional roller-coaster after surgery. Even normally stoical souls can feel low or even weepy, often on the third or fourth day after a major operation. Although the exact cause isn’t known, this is usually short-lived. Nurses sometimes maintain that one gets worse before one gets better, and that a patient’s tears are a reliable sign of their imminent recovery.

It is also common to be a bit light-headed after a general anaesthetic, possibly because of blood pressure changes. This can last for a couple of weeks, and is often worse if one gets up quickly from a seated or lying position. One can faint if rising too quickly, so, unless symptoms are severe, the convalescent should just take the hint and try not to rush things.

if you have long hair you need a bobble with no metal!!, i didnt know this so had to bite the metal bit off mine and knot it lol, so a bobble thats glued or maybe a scrunchie would be best…

also get some button up pjs, i planned on sleeping in my onesie but you have to keep the stockings on (stop blood clotting) so ul b too hot if ur onesie has feet in it lol

this is an amazing thread, thank you George for starting it. I have made a huge list of things to get and do and think I will be well prepared post op.

One tip I can add though, post op, eat plain white rice, I have been in hospital 3 or 4 times now for medical reasons and a surgeon suggested this to me, it helps clear your body of the anaesthetic quicker, it sticks to your in insides and drags anything it picks up with it.

It should clear your system of that groggy feeling in half the time, i definitely noticed a difference the 2nd time i went under the knife compared to the 1st time.
