Hey ladies,
Just a couple of questions; dying for a long soak in the bath to ease my back pain from sleeping up right. I know we can’t get the incision wet so even if I had a low bath would the steam make my incision too wet?
Also, owch! Such a tight chest worried about stretch marks when can we use bio oil? (not on incision). My boobs are so tight they look flat at the front where my middle is raised but look so big from the side. When the drop I’m hoping the front will round out ad look bigger too? (Only day 2 post op so I know everything will change obviously) xx
@daisy. I’m 3 days PO and I had a shower today, wore a sports bra and didn’t let water get to my front was just nice to wash my hair. Have u thought about getting an electric blanket? I’ve had one from before my op and it’s so cosy and warm and helps with the sleeping up. I’ve had no back or neck pain at all. There only £14 from tescos.
I spoke to nurse yesterday and she said I was fine to out bio oil on so long as went no where near my incisions so I just put it on top of my boobs been putting it on 2-3 times a day xxx
Your fine to have shallow baths hun i kept my sports bra on at first x Hot water bottle or electric blanket like Rebecca said should help with the back ache i had bad back and neck ache and the hot water botle eased it abit x
Oh wow I’m dying to wash my hair and it’s only day 2 hahah! I was even considering putting like a plastic bag over my boobs in the shower haha. Yeah I’m going get an electric blanket tomorrow, it’s the bottom of my back that hurts so bad I’m sick do sitting down already lol.
Oh that’s good then I might start using it, I think I could end up with a lot of stretch marks cause my chest is that tight!! It would be a nightmare! I will use it just on top for now, thanks @rebecca 🙂 so you healing well? xx
Shallow baths are ok but can’t be too hot as yes the steam can cause issues. Baths/showers in general are not advised untill 7 days PO after that you can shower normaly but keep waterproof dressings on the scars. A long proper soak isn’t allowed untill 6 weeks sadly! Sorry honey!! Maybe get a hot water bottle for your back? An electric blanket as Rebecca suggested is a great idea!
You’re fine to use topical creams on the upper pole part of the breast, however strech marks are something that are determined by your genetics, they are scars deep down in the tissue, creams can’t prevent or repair them sadly. They can improve the coloir from red/purple to white/silver and for that i’d recommend Coco butter, the bio oil is very greasy and can cause acne on your chest.
Hope this helps! x
Bio oil is greasy i didnt like it the coco butter is good! Im 18 days post now and im sleeping upright on and off i still use v pillow but im alot further down the bed a lil propped now lol your body just naturally lets you do what you are ready for i think as i couldnt have slept in any other way than propped up for like 9 days because it was painful to not do it the longer post op the more your body will turn easier and allow you to sleep more comfortably i sleep ok now x
@daisy I have a certain mode in my shower so the water doesn’t spray everywhere which ment I could just stand in the shower and wash my hair. I didn’t get wet at all
On my front an no where near my incisions. Yeah I think in healing well not in really and pain just tight and uncomfortable and feels bruised. Unable to pick my one year old up though. Today I’ve felt so drained though. I’ve just slept on and off all day xxx
I’ve settled for a stand up body wash haha not going risk anything. I only had my op Tuesday and I’ve not had much pain at all so cause I feel ok I’m fooling myself in thinking I am ok to do normal stuff if you know what I mean. Although I am resting all day and sleeping a lot to Rebecca. I will use coco butter then thank you girls 🙂 I’ve also still got the surgery socks on, has anyone else been told to keep them on? xx
Hi, bio oil works wonders for me, I use it as I love the way it keeps my skin soft and silky, with boi oil you only need a little drop at the tip your fingers and massage it in leaving it not greasy
