I’m 2 days post op and I’m like 4 months preggers 😂. I’m a size 4 and belly usually flat but when I eat, and at the end of the night it’s more like 6 months pregnant. My friend said it looked like I’d put a stone on overnight. I know it’s just the effects of general anaesthetic. I’m not even taking any pills , apart from I’ve had two lots of ibuprofen since surgery so like 2 once a day. I know painkillers can make you more bloated so I didn’t expect mine to be as bad as everyone said. I’ve had surgeries before and never experienced it like this. With the strapping on, and the bra and the bloating everything’s pretty uncomfortable. But I’m still managing okay. Just want to reassure anyone else whose going through this, that it’s normal and I feel your pain 😂. Think last night was the worst the pain has acc been since surgery and I’ve found it’s when I’ve slipped further and further down the pillows so I’m not propped up right. It’s hard to sleep sitting up, but they definitely tell you for a reason. You find it harder to breathe and it becomes more painful, I guess it helps the blood flow and the swelling sitting up right!

Also any suggestions on what to take for bloating. I know water and laxatives but don’t really think it’s because I’m constipated. Think it’s just a waiting game! Xx

Hey girl I was the exact same, I had mine done last Saturday and bloating is still there!!! I was given codene and I know that does bloat you up, I ended up stopping taking it because I just couldn’t cope any longer! I’ve been drinking peppermint tea and it has been easing it off so maybe you could try that? If you read up the benefits off it too it is really good for your tummy so that could help? It eases the pain a little bit for me too, I’m still bloated but not as bad as I was and I’m 6 days post op now so it does get better. I think all of the drugs they give you through your cannula whilst your under too will probably still be in your system and I think it does take a good few days / week.
My first night was horrific my back and belly was killing me!!! I was slouching down in the night and trying to shuffle back up was horrendous but it does get better. I was trying to cry the first night but because the pain was so bad I couldn’t and I was like just omg what have I done to myself 🤣 but after like day 2/3 I was sleeping a lot better! Don’t think I could have done it without the travel pillow the ones that go round your neck if you have one of them? It’s been literally on my neck since Saturday haha 🤣 but yeah water for the bloating and also try peppermint tea it really did ease the pain a bit for me!! Hope that helps and wishing you a speedy recovery xxxxx

    Hey 🙂

I found that the bloating was more water retention and draining from the swelling in your boobs down to your stomach. So because you are pretty much in a sitting position all the time the fluid collects in your lower abdomen… if that makes any sense??

The best way to get all the fluid out your system or move it to other parts of your body is just moving around, walk around regularly and don’t stay in the same position all the time. Also drinking lots of water.

It will get better pretty quickly either way promise!

    Thanks ladies really appreciate that!
Yeah definitely think it’s fluid and because of GA and what they put through your Canula. I think pain wise I’m managing quite well. I’ve had unders which is really quite a struggle but I’m managing. I’m getting up and walking etc and haha Abigail yeah I know how you feel with the wanting to lie down but then if being more painful. My boyfriend actually bought me an adjustable back rest thing that basically looks like a sun lounger 😂, you prop it on your mattress above your pillow and it came today, so I think this will help when I’m sleeping to not keep slipping down haha! It was only £20 on Amazon! Hope you’re both recovering okay and I’ll have to try some peppermint tea! Xxxx

Ahhh Jess that prop up thing sounds amazing!!! I kept slipping down In the night and waking up to shuffle back up the pain was unreal trying to get back up the bed 🤣 the travel pillow thingy I have that goes round your neck has honestly been a life saver I don’t think I would have even slept at all if it wasn’t for that! I’m still using it now just because it’s so comfy haha! I only had to sleep upright for 2 days they told me but I’ve just carried on doing it apart from last night I kind of slept a bit more flat thing it’s the first night I have slept right through!! Hope your recovering well too! Yeah try some peppermint tea and I hope it goes soon, I think mines almost gone now thank god it’s such a horrible feeling being bloated but I hope it clears soon for you 🤞🏼❤️ xxxxx

Hey lovely, ahh so glad to hear your bloating is going down!! 🙌🏻 Last night (2 days post op) was the worst for pain. My muscles kept contracting and squeezing and it was an awful sharp pain, I found out it’s because I have unders and my muscle is trying to go back to being flat 😂! I’m Like no no hunny, you’re helping me get big boobies so stop that haha! I say big but I mean big for me! Sooo today I feel like a new woman. I found that even though sleeping upright is super uncomfy, in essence it helps with overall healing and blood flow, swelling & even symmetry haha…so I think it helped a bit with me feeling so much better today. The bloating is still bad but looks a bit better today too! So yay for both of us improving haha! 😀 hope today goes smoothly for you! Xxx
