    Hey girls,

So I went for my 1 post op check yesterday and my nurse was a little new still and wasn’t sure whether I still needed to wear my breast band.

I’m a week today and I still have it but I haven’t worn it since yesterday just because it’s so inconvenient but if I need to be I will.

When did people stop wearing it and if maybe just wear it at night? What will happen if I don’t wear it and stuff?

    Thanks x

Hi hollie I stopped wearing mine after a week although I’m not a mya patient I can’t imagine surgeons recommendations for that are that different. They advised me to keep the bad though in case I felt I needed to wear it but I’m 2wpo and haven’t felt the need to wear it at all!x

Hi I also have a band on due to having a haematoma after surgery on Monday. They told me I have to wear it for 5 days. I know it’s puttin pressure on me to prevent another bleed but I thought they where used to encourage your breasts to drop? i don’t have a clue about the bands like don’t know how tight they need to be or where on your chest they should be sitting im a tab confused. hope your recovery is going well!! Xx

Hi Chloe I’m due for surgery next week I’m worried about the breast band there doesn’t seem to be any consistency on how to wear it, the only thing I’ve seen is that it’s in comfortable.

Hi Loraine, firstly I thought this but if u wear it over a t-shirt it’s not that uncomfatable and it feels very supportive. I took it off last night as it’s so tight I wanted ten minutes rest from it but I wish I hadn’t I was just sat there and I was getting pain all around my breast so I’m gathering I need it for the support. Has ur surgeon recommended u 1? I didn’t have a clue about them just got told to wear it for 5 days but I think I may wear it longer as I feel without it I’m not getting the best support xxx

I got told to wear mine for another 2 weeks when I went in for my 1W appointment but I stopped wearing it straight away. If anything, just wear it to bed. It’s only to help them drop into the pockets, but not every surgeon uses them so they aren’t a compulsory thing xx

The breast band is only to encourage them to drop, but it does have to be pretty tight. I’ve also spoken to people who haven’t had one at all so I wouldn’t worry too much. If you’re concerned like Amy said wear it to bed and see how you feel after. It does feel odd the first time you take it off and don’t really feel supported as such my boobs definitely moved a bit more without it but once you get used that it’s fine xx

Thanks girls, I haven’t worn it since yesterday morning and felt much better so I don’t think I will. Just wanted to make sure other people don’t either

    Hi girls,
Dunno how you guys dealing with the band, it’s literally driving me insane. It’s so tight that my new boobies are literally pushed down south, and I can’t breathe. I can’t move my left arm as the blood supply is pretty much cut off. I’ve not taken it off even once as I’m trusting professionals with it, but can’t imaging not breathing for 4 weeks…

Hey all surgeons give specific instructions regarding breast bands if they use them. Yes they’re uncomfortable however there is a valid reason why ur surgeon has told u to wear it and that’s to help the implant move and position correctly.

I had mine on for 4 wks and took it off to bathe and relax for about 30m -1 HR per day. I had under the muscle and by six weeks one boob was slightly behind so with the advice of my surgeon I slept with my band for another week.

If you’re unsure then see ur nurse/surgeon to confirm as not to compromise your results. Ur body is still getting used to the foreign parts that have been put in. It can take upto a year for your final results. I’m 6 months post op and I didn’t feel they had started to soften until 3/4 months post op. It’s a journey they cannot be rushed and defo doesn’t happen overnight however frustrating it maybe.

Yes Fran, I do agree with u. There is a reason to it. I have to wear mine for 3/4 weeks xx Dont look fabulous, but it’s only 3 weeks :). I’ve been wanting my boobs done since I was 18. So what is a 3 weeks. Xxx
