Hello, I’m booked in with my surgeon next Friday. And worry that he won’t follow through with the surgery when I book it. This is because 6 months ago I had been put on anti depressiants due to stress. I haven’t been taking then for at least 4/5 months. But it will be on my medical form, will this affect the chances of the surgeon wanting to operate? I’m fit and healthy and my stress levels are now back to normal. Anyone have any ideas on wether he will allow me to still have surgery?
Hi Hun I’m sure with mya you have to be either on or off antidepressants for 6 months befor they will operate but if you mean your sugury is al booked for next Friday I’m sure they won’t be a problem as they will have looked though all Tyler medical notes if you mean your just meeting your sugoen than you should books sugury for 6 months of being off your antidepressants to be on the safe side xxxx
So would they look on medical forms for this? Because I haven’t mentioned it to them. But they will receive a medical form. I’m hoping he will still do it. I’m meeting with my surgeon to discuss the surgery and secure a date. What if I got a doctors note to say that I’m stable and fine to have the surgery? So annoying as I wanted to get them done within the next month :(. Thank you xx
@staceymlx xxxx also- what is the reason as to why u can’t have been in gem to get surgery? – I’ve been off for 2/3 months and it was because of stress at work. So don’t see how this would interfer with surgey
Hiya @emamberjadex
Mya won’t let you have surgery unless you’ve been on or off antidepressants for at least 6 months regardless of the reason. I had this problem with them so went with another company who didn’t have any issues. And yes, they will find out even if you don’t mention it because they contact your GP xx
I had a medical issue also, as I have ulcerative colitis and had recently been on a lot of steroid treatment they wanted to have time clean of medication for 6 months, just because they don’t want to take any risks it’s a invasive surgery after all and with all the risks I think they give it a 6 month period for most medications! Alls I can say is at first I was heart broken crying to the surgeon who was nothing but lovely and amazing and honestly? The months have flew by I’m due for surgery in March and it’s worth the wait! They are thinking about your health and that’s it really! Xx
Yeah Hun mya get medical info for your gp so will find out of that xxx
I’m on anti depressants babe, all I had to do was wait 6 months from when I first got prescribed then, so 13th feb is my op date and there have been no problems with them whatsoever, it’s nothing to worry about xx
@chl0ewhittingham2 Ok thank you! So is it definitely 6 months? Do they do sometime let you off because you are fine? So annoying ???? don’t want to wait 6 months! Do u know they reason as to why they don’t allow you to be on/off antidepressants for 6 months? Xxx
A doctors note might help to be honest, if you see your surgeon they might be able to tell you more but you’d probably only have to wait another 3 months to have your surgery as you’ve been off them for 3 months already if you get me! Xx
Aw good news! And hope all goes well for you! But if you did have to wait it honestly flys by and gives you a bit of time to get sorted with money or anything else! Best of luck! Xx
Also, @emamberjadex I was on anti depressants for 3 months for stress like you and MYA said no way until 6 months. The reason is because they don’t consider you to be ‘stable’ until that 6 month stage. I asked about providing a doctors note as my GP had no issues with me having surgery but MYA still said no. Wouldnt even consider it.
@georginaa-2 ok thank you. Where is one health medical based? I’m from leigh on sea in Essex- so wouldn’t want to travel to far for consultations but I don’t mind London for the actual surgery xxx
