Can I please ask during the 6 week recovery period following surgery what you can and can’t do? I am having a bit of a panic following my consultation today as have a 2 and 4 year old at home. I’m having uplift and implant I was initially told no driving for 1 week and 2 weeks off work now I’m told a 6 week recovery. Not to do anything. Children are obviously very demanding and will need my attention and focus my husband has the first 2 weeks off with me but after then I’ll be home with period of needing to look after them. Any advice/knowledge very much appreciated

    When is your surgery?
I have my consultation with Mr Mahdi tomorrow – surgery in Nov. I was told over phone consultation you could drive 24/28 hours after surgery due to anaesthetic would be fine with uplift procedure ( I have automatic car) & no specific amount of time of work – I have an office job and also 3 & 7yr old xx

I had 2 weeks off work, I have an office job too, and didn’t start to feel like myself properly until about day 10. I couldn’t drive until at least 7 days after but I have a manual car so trying to get into reverse was a bitch! I don’t have children but can imagine it would be difficult. It’s brill you have your husband off for 2 weeks as the first 2 weeks are the most important in terms of lack of mobility, you won’t really be able to lift your arms above your head or lift the children, reach for things in cupboards and open heavy doors etc. I couldn’t lift the kettle or open the washing machine door and stuff so bear this in mind! But after 2 weeks for sure you’ll feel 10x better!!! They advise you to move around as soon as you can following your surgery. For my first surgery in 2021 I was in bed for 2/3 days then out for a walk however my revision this week I walked about 1/2km in the evening of my surgery and yesterday I walked about 6km. I’ll probably stay in bed today resting but I was glad to not be bed bound. Xx
