I’m 24, childless, straight out of uni and the only responsibility I have is myself and my rent, council tax and phone bill.
So of course I decided after waiting almost 9 years that now would be the perfect time to have boobies!
As a teen I was anarexic due to taking ADHD medication and thus, never really developed anything profiling above a B. (I’m now 5ft5 and almost 10st – I have a body that more resembles a teenage chubby boy with man-boobs)
Yesterday I got approved for my first ever loan from the bank man (yes the conversation was awkward asking Mr Scary-bank-man for money for boobs) so I do what any excited 20-something would do and tell all most closest friends with a massive grin on my face! I was squeelling with excitement and really expecting them to congratulate me, however I was met with ” that’s so much money to waste!”, “if it’s any consolation I like your body the way it is”, “why would you want to get fake boobs? No one likes fakes”, and last but not least, the one that everyone is saying “but you’re fine the way you are!”
Now…. I wasn’t looking for validation. I was looking for support and someone to join in on my boobie-celebration!
All these comments left me feeling bad and as if I should feel ashamed for wanting to do something purely for myself! Surely I deserve to feel like a real woman after all this time of feeling like I play dress up?
I felt like shouting out “Oi! Stop pissing on my parade! Be happy for me!!!”
I’m now all deflated and feeling like I should keep my proceedure to myself in fear of looking like a selfish, image-obsessed brat. 🙁

How do/did you ladies respond to such negative reactions?

It’s your body and it’s how you feel that counts! Do what you feel you want to do. You’ve wanted it for 9 years your the one that counts. I’m sure once you’ve had it done everyone will still support you. I’ve only told my mum bf and sister, for this exact same reason other people with try and talk me out of it but I’ve wanted this forever and i know once I’ve had them done I will feel so much happier with myself xx

I hated hearing this, too! I’m 5ft 4 and weight 9st 8 and have a/b cup boobs and I look like an orangutan when sitting down. I hate buying bikinis, bras, dresses, tops and anything involving my top half!
So, at the end of the day, tell them all to bugger off as you’re the one who sees your body in every light, pose and position. So, if you want something done that will make you so much more happier and comfortable, go for it!!!!!
Don’t let anyone put you off, it’s your body, not theirs!!

It’s not a waste of money and you can ask to have a natural look, so who would know anyway?!
Be happy and go for it!

I’m having mine done on the 25th March, woop woop.

    xx

I know exactly how you feel, this is all I had from people too! As long as you’re doing them for yourself go for it! Mine are on finance so similar to you and I’ve lost count how many people have commented on the amount they’re costing and how it’s such a waste of money! Until they’ve been in your situation they won’t understand. Good luck if you do decide to go through with it 🙂 xx

This is exactly what I got when I finally decided to speak to my boyfriend last night! I got ‘but I like you the way you are’ ‘you don’t want to be fake do you’ but he did say he would support me. I guess people don’t understand if they’ve never had to look in the mirror in an outfit and just look like an ironing board, hate wearing bikinis and just feel so self conscious. I know exactly how you feel, I’m 22 and I know that if I havnt developed anything by now then it’s never going to happen.. So I say do what makes us happy! 🙂 xx

I’ve had this too! From people that actually have a set of boobs so I guess I can never make them understand! Xx

It annoys me so much when people say that. You do what makes you happy Hun and feel confident don’t listen to them there are probably just jealous. Also well done on getting a loan I got declined so am desperately trying to get the money together as I want boobies so bad!!! I’ve git nothing barely an A . Xxx

You go for it !! I waited 30 long years before finally deciding it’s my time now , I always put everyone before myself – raised 2 children into wonderful people they are now . I told everyone and only came up against a few negative comments . It’s honestly the best thing I have done , makes me very happy and my children ( 22 and 20 ) have been so supportive . My husband of 25 years has always said I’m fine the I am but he knew I really wanted this so was fully supportive as well X do what makes you happy ?

It’s like they see “but you’re fine the way you are” as a compliment! So frustrating!

Have confidence in your decision and don’t let friends and family persuade you to change your mind . It’s your life , and it’s important that you do the things that will make you feel happy . Some times people mean well , and they think they know what’s best for you , it’s impossible for people to know how you feel , unless they are walking in your shoes . Go for it ..have your op , don’t leave it too late or you’ll regrett it for the rest of your life … Good luck in what ever decision you decide to make xx

I can relate to this too!!
It angers me when people say “but you’re fine the way you are” “what would you do that for?” “who are you trying to impress?”coz it undermines me.
I am a very confident outgoing person in a stable loving relationship. But I wear triple boost gel bras. Only I know that every night I take the bra off and there goes my femininity slapping hard on the floor. I wear them because I want them but have failed to grow them.

I turned 32 in Jan, I literally woke up from all peoples negativity and telling me I was fine the way I was and thought well actually maybe to you I am fine but to me I’m not fine and I’m the only person in this world that really has to live with me 24/7 so if I can change it why the hell not?!

Yesterday I had my op, just like that I made my decision and everything as flowed beautifullynwithin a month as if it were meant to be.
It hurts like hell today but its a pain I’m proud of because its for me!!
I’ve been made aware that its inconvenienced people that I am not able to do what I’d normally do for them for the next two weeks but again so what?! I did this for me and I’m sorry that for a short while I can’t do things for you but I need to think of me too.

    @LAURA
you need to do what makes you happy when it comes to your body. If you are harming yourself then don’t and obviously your family and friends are right to worry but if you are bettering what you already have then go for it!
Its like the gym, people go to improve their health, fitness and appearance but those that don’t go just whinge about people that do!
Be a do’er babe, its not selfish. Don’t wait as long as I did xx

I get all of this! Had it for years as my family have known for a long time I wanted it, I’ve finally got the money to do it.. I even asked my bf to just support me the other day! I’ve just brushed it off every time someone says something and tell them I don’t care what you think I want it so I’m gonna do it 🙂

Reply with I don’t want to be ‘fine’ I want to be happy and confident in myself. It’s all very well people saying its a waste but it’s human nature to want to better yourself be it looks or otherwise. I’m pretty sure everyone given the opportunity too would improve some aspect of there look.

9 years and you still want them so I wouldn’t let others stop you. It’s clearly something you’ve thought massively about.

    Boo them! Enjoy!

Great post and very relevant to me too. Some of my close friends are totally happy for me (some would like to do it themselves) but my one fear is my hubby as he doesn’t really like ‘fake boobs’ and I daren’t tell any other family members.
I do feel guilty, a bit like a spoilt brat spending money on cosmetic surgery and this is also making my decision hard.
It’s really helpful knowing that other people are having similar issues.
