Hey Vicky I know you get a 7 day calling off period. Now to sure of the complaints process but I think you have to write to head office x

    Menu

The problem with cancelling is that you would lose your deposit 🙁 xx

I don’t really want to lose my deposit and I am outside the 7 day cooling off period but that does not give them a right to mess me around either? I may have to see what rights I have? I feel very disappointed and let down 🙁 x

My surgeon consultation was back in December but I did not book my op until 2 weeks ago so I will have to find out what rights I have? 🙁 x

@misfion, myself and Christina are being messed about over admission times, I do not even know whether I should travel all the way to high gate on Tuesday now if I’m just gonna be messed about all day?? 🙁

I read somewhere that admission times might be similar but surgery times may vary. Some admission times are quite close together – Like i’m sure I’ve read people having a 7am and 7.15 or something like that. My pc said that there are people in the clinic over the bank holiday if you need them, or you can phone highgate as they are still open for surgery. They might be able to clear it up now chick xxx

If its any consolation, I was at high gate Tuesday with 11am admission. I expected and so did nurses, to go in last as I was an overnight case and had BA and rhino, didn’t have anyone with me so was nervous but I ended up going down at 12 and was back up at 2pm ish. I was so out of it after that I didn’t mind no1 being there and it turned out that my surgeon wanted me to go down earlier in the end so I could be kept an eye on by the nurses after my op. The surgeons were all there really late at night (could hear them doing some of the rounds checking on their patients) so I don’t think they would ever turn anyone down, they keep going until they need too and i read that they have like nearly 50 rooms for patients so no worry there! But tbh my way of looking at it would be that they can’t predict whether something might go wrong and one person will take longer so don’t worry about the time you have been given, might not go that way on the day anyway! Hope that helps xxx

Hi @vicky. They block book admissions and then work through the list similar to nhs operations. I am sure it’s all fine Hun. Why don’t you double check with your pc to make sure? Be a shame to lose your deposit 🙁

Hey @lisa I wouldn’t mind having the same admission time as someone but I have MYA telling me 07:00 and high gate telling me 12:30 so I definitely have to get it sorted Monday morning before I leave to travel to the hotel 🙁

    Menu

Oh I have been told 7 too so I will check also!! @vicky

That’s fair enough, I think we need to call MYA Bristol and high gate on Monday or better still just highgate and work it out between us? We could always call high gate tomorrow rather the spending the whole day stressing??? X

Yeah you should definately double check with the hospital… I was there yesterday and and turned up at 4.30 as asked, but they were a tad behind on times…. and should have been told to turn up at 6.30 instead, and even the reception stated that someone should have rung to let us girls know (there was 3 of us waiting in receiption for about two hours), but at the mo Highgate is having alot of refurbishment going on (as you’ll see from the outside) and there are not as many beds available as usual ~ least thats what the receptionist stated. He did apologise for the wait but i guess that sometimes happens. Although my admission wasn’t until 4.20 I didnt have my op until 8.15, which to be honest I didnn’t think was bad…. thou a few people were taking their time to leave their rooms too, but they shouldn’t really be pushed to vacate until they are ready!!!! I would ring on the day and check!!! Hope it works out for you. 🙂 x

I doubt you will get your deposit back Hun, especially so close to surgery. MYA have a tendency to be a tad lapse with timings, but then again, who can actually say everything is going to run 100% perfect on the day, because no-one knows exactly how they are going to cope with surgery. I was told I had a day case for my re-op, but all my notes had over night, I was told to arrive at 9, then told I was last to go down, so wouldn’t be in surgery until 4.30 earliest, so should have has a later admission time meaning I could have eaten and drank. Surgeons change the lists, traffic can cause them to be late, and PC’s get info wrong. No company is perfect, but you choose the surgeon over anything
Really hope you don’t cancel, and get the surgery you want, and with no issues xx

Hun admission times are so you are at the hospital and can be seen too you see alot of people before you even go down for surgery they have a list
My admission was 11am and i was 6th on the list so i didnt go down till 2pm
I wouldnt worry about the admission time and i certainly wouldnt cancel because of it.
Few people get given the same time so you are there so id still go they wont turn you away hun x

@pixiepixie1989 – my issue is not more than one person having the same admission time, my issue is that MYA and high gate are giving me different admission times so I have no idea when to turn up now and I can’t call them till tomorrow which is a little last minute when the surgery is Tuesday and I am due to leave tomorrow to travel to the hotel????

    Menu

I cancelled and got my deposit back… but I cancelled because the surgeon I was booked under was suspended and I had already seen the other MYA surgeon and didnt like him so I wasnt happy to go ahead and they refunded the lot!

    Menu

Ohh i get you hun i qould go when the hospital says they will have it down what time you are due in so i would go with them good luck xx

My admission time was at 11 o’clock I didn’t have my op till 7:30 that night , left the hospital at 12 midnight . Admission times come from the hospitals not mya they only get the same info as you . It’s the hospitals falt. X

@Em – MYA and the hospital are both responsible as they are both telling me to turn up at different times!!!

Still not myas falt they get there info the hospital will send you a letter you recieve this around the same time as they do . You no that saying “dont shoot the messenger” . You can call the hospital to confirm or ask your pc to do it for you. The hospital called me about my admission time and sent a letter then mya called me and told me a different time . So I called the hospital they told me that they hadn’t sent the revised times to mya yet. Realy not worth canceling over. This is somthing that can happen if you go thought any company .
I no its a stress full time and the last thing you need right now is confusion over times . But when you get the the hospital evern If it is early you will be very looked after. You just have to put you feet up and relax I didn’t let it bother me and I have a realy nice day the staff were grate . I got a cheeky cheese burger on the way home and I’m very happy with my results regardless of the confusions . Good luck for you op Hun . Hope all gos well very soon you will have a huge smile on you face . 🙂 xx
