Can i go home after op the same day ??

hi girls, quick question do you (have) to stay over night in a hotel after your op or can your partner or family member drive you home in the afternoon the same day.
my op will be in Preston but i only live in Newcastle and would rather not stay over in a hotel rather go home to my own bed.
Help? xx

I think it depends how far away you live, I was at Preston and was about 40 mins away, I went home the same day xx

You have to be within 1hrs drive of the hospital . I think it’s that far. They say if anything will go wrong it’s within the 24hrs. Think it’s an hr.

Yeah,I got told same can be no further than an hours drive. I live in chester le street not to far from Newcastle and having mine July and will have to stay in hotel. X

I’m from Newcastle aswel babe & have 2 stay at hotel as need to go bk the following day for the nurse to check everythings ok.. Then can leave for home. Xx

ah right ok thanks girls, so i defo have to stay as the drive is about 2 hours . 🙁 gutted wanted my own bed. glad i asked the question because i wasn’t sure. only got 27 days till op. need to book a hotel now . xx

Yeah u defo have to stay over.. I would of loved my own bed too!! Apparantly there’s a hotel 5 mins away from the clinic. Think its £30/£35 for the night.. I’ll be booking it nxt week. Got mine on 30th may.. Exiting times!!!! Xx

I’m from sunderland there’s no way I could have handled the journey back the same day. The Ibis hotel is literally round the corner and £30 a night x

I’m at Preston 6 aug been told need to stay within 30mins of hospital until day after. I’ve looked at the ibis and premier inn about £30 a night xx

Not loads if pain just really tired and uncomfortable the next day in the car was sore I would recommend a v pillow. The ibis is ideal it’s less than 5 mins away and the beds were comfy . Worth staying and paying £30.00 x

If you live further than an hour and you go home I think if something happens it can affect your after care you might not be covered x

I hope it’s not really painful after am a wimp . Defo need to buy a v pillow. Do you have to go back to the hospital the day after or can you just go straight home from hotel ? Xx

aww didn’t know ya had to stay close by or in the hospital 🙁 looks like I will be booking hotel then as my drive is about 2 hours away aswell or more lol xx

No just straight home. My boyfriend went to McDonald’s for me on the night n then I went to sleep. In 5 weeks post op and still use my vpillow. It’s more uncomfortable than pain it’s as if someone is sitting on your chest. And very tight on a morning. I struggled with lifting and pulling trousers up but just rest I was drowsy of the medication. You’ll love it I’m gutted it’s over but getting measured on Thursday so excited for that xx

I’m a proper wimp as well ha you will be fine. Just don’t do too much I tried to tie my hair up and hurt myself. I had 460 from a very flat a. When’s your op? X

460 🙂 ah I wish i could have bigger then 400cc. What size do you think you will be at now ?. In 27 days 9th of June 🙂 so excited I hate being a 32a 🙁 xx

I know the feeling Hun I was a very flat A I think il be an E I look about a DD. Il let you know when I get measured. Aw it will fly over xx
