Can you have surgery on your period?

Might be a stupid question – but I’m due for my monthly on the week my op is. Will this affect anything? X

I was on my period when I had my op, no issues other than I had to use a pad instead of a tampax. x

I was also wondering this, I read on some of my notes that being on your period could affect dates. My period is always irregular so it worried me! I suppose they can’t ‘check’ you lol!

I was just told I couldn’t wear a tampax while in the operating theatre, something to do with an increased risk of developing toxic shock syndrome. x
