Capsular contraction

I’ve been doing more research, and googled the risks.. Probably a silly thing to do ? anyway on ‘nhs choices’ it basically says that capsular contraction is going to happen if you have implants at some point or another and you will more than likely have to have surgery for this in the future. So it’s deffo going to happen? And also that people with small breasts before surgery will probably end up with creases/folds in the skin.
Is this common? Is there anyone that it’s happened to? And is the capsular contraction as common as the site says? Worrying about so much now ??

I’m not sure about these but there will probably be thousands of risks that come with this, or any surgery! Got to think 9 times out of 10 everything is perfect, and you’ve just got to almost worry about those as and when you get to them and you more than likely won’t even get them and you’ll have a perfect op & recovery!

I actively have avoided not looking at risks cause it will give me anxiety haha!!

Hi, I’ve had my implants in for 16years 300cc round overs. I developed capsular contracture after about a year and they have gradually got worse. I’m about to have surgery to remove the implant and then eventually replace. I’ve done lots of research and had a number of consultations. It seems that you are at much less risk of contracture if the implant is placed partially under the muscle. Hope this helps x

My friend she’s had uplift and implants 2013 under the muscle 6 months later in her right she Got CC then had a re op then year later it come back and he her implants replaced from Natrelle to motiva implants and year on its come back again so she a due re op in May X

Hi MYA girlies! Leanne- Im currently awaiting my re-op as I have developed capsular contracture in my right boob, I knew immediately something wasnt quite right when my left boob fluffed and dropped perfectly after 6 months and the second just didnt. Its been 2 years since my initial op with Mr Kazzazi and I had 250cc partial unders (mod high profile) My right boob just looks like a tennis ball and Ive struggled to wear a bra for a full day ever since I had the op done, plus cant sleep on my front or have my little niece rest her head on my chest when we are watching a film as its just so painful and uncomfortable! 🙁 Again its just one of those risks you take, I know at least 4 other girls that have had the op and theyve had no problems at all ( I guess I was simply the unlucky one!!) Mr K said its nothing I have done wrong it either just happens to you or it doesnt, so hes going to whip these implants out and all the tissue and pop me some new ones in ( fingers crossed) I hope this helps, as standard MYA have to make you aware there is a chance this may happen, just like when you sign a disclaimer at a tattoo studio ect, it doesnt mean it will necassarily happen you just have to be made aware so youre fully informed about the choice youre making.
Would I have a boob job again? ABSOLOUTELY 100% has it put me off cosmetic surgery? no way!!!! you will be so happy and confident with your new boobs if you choose to do it that you will forget you ever worried about these things, although mine have not turned out perfect I am JUST as excited now to have my second operation as the first!! Ive not looked up risks ? either way i need boobs so im getting them, watched botched up body’s the other night , I shouldn’t of done as there was sum1 on with this cc ,@Amanda Jane hope u get sorted ? have my op on the 28th xx

I’ve been panicking too!!! I had my op done Friday and I’m just so concerned with all the risks! Is there any few things in particular I should be looking out for to worry about? Thank you x

From what I understood on the NHS Choices, it was saying that eventually over a lifetime, most people will get capsular contraction at some point, and their implants will need removing and replacing – but most people need their implants replaced anyway, so I think that’s what it might’ve meant. I think for most people, the implants last about 10-20 years, and then the implants will need replacing due to capsular contracture. Most of the time it’s mild-medium level of capsular contracture, but sometimes it can be serious.

Not sure if that was helpful, but that was my understanding. Also, mentor implants are supposedly the best because they last longer before capsular contracture and replacement.

Also, it says that some people will get capsular contracture so mildly that surgery to fix it is not necessary – scar tissue forming happens to everyone, but some people get it to a degree that requires a re-op and others might not x
