I think you should be fine as its only if you have a temperature or actual breathing problem that they worry. Try and rest and don’t take anything for it before speaking with the nurse incase it affects the ga etc as they will ask what meds you have taken in the last while when you get to hospital. Hope you get well soon sweetie xxx

Hiya Hun, I think as long as you don’t have a temp and are well in yourself on the day of surgery you should be fine. I had a dry cough due to my hayfever but was fine to go ahead with surgery. Try not to worry too much and get some rest. Hope all goes well with your surgery, good luck 🙂 xxx

Generally old fasioned steaming, hot water towel over the head even without flu like bunged up symptoms its good to clear and moisten those airways and covonia chesty is quite a good I find, but I said the same at my pre op i’ve recently given up smoking but since doing so have developed the worlds loudest chesty cough and I thought they’d think I was not fit for the op but the nurse assured me as long as you dont have any fever like syptoms (temp hot and cold flushes etc) then all would be fine xx so if you feel well in yourself you’ll be fine, we have our ops on the same day so fingers crossed our coughs dont stop anything going ahead!! xx

Hey lovely, I had a cough and cold when I had my surgery on the 7th June. Told the nurse and anaesthetist before and they were not worried, it’s only if you have a temperature or proper flu like symptoms. It’s weird when I came round nose had totally gone and never came back and my cough was considerably better! A week leading up to surgery I was up every night with cough attacks, even the night before and was absolutely fine after and it didn’t come back. Don’t panic 🙂 just lots of rest now until then! Xx
