Covid-19 test prior to surgery

Hello!
I have my BA surgery coming up in a couple of weeks and of course need a COVID-19 test prior.
The test has to be carried out 48hrs prior and need the results ready for the surgery. I’m concerned that I won’t receive the results in time!
How is everyone going about getting their test? Are you going to a government test unit or paying private to ensure you get the results in time?

I thought that they would test us on arrival or during the pre-op apppintment, as I know the NHS can get the results back within a few hours. I’m surprised that we have to do it ourselves?! Did MYA give you these instructions?

I might be wrong but I was told that you need to be referred to a test centre, either because you are showing symptoms or because you have been in contact with someone who’s covid positive. X

I’m not with MYA I’m with a private surgeon but using the London wellback hospital. I think it’ll be the same with everyone that you have to get yourself tested. I made enquires to a few different places and all have said I need to get myself tested. The hospital requires you to have a test done 48hrs prior to ensure you don’t have it, so I’m stuck as to whether to pay private or go to a test centre.

I need to be tested for covid 3 days before my op in 6weeks time and I have seen some girls paid for there tests but if you look on the government website it’s states that if you or someone in you house hold has symptoms and need a test, or been in contact with some who is positive or having surgery and need to be test before that. I work in a hospital myself and the results should come back no later then 24hours after you’ve been tested. Hope this helps 🙂

Does anyone know if we can get the test a day earlier than mya recommends? As this is the only time I can attend an appointment thanks x

My surgery was booked for the Tuesday and the Friday before I went on the NHS booking website and attended the drive thru test the same day (free of charge) my results were sent via text that night x
