I’ve got a three hour trip home after my op and just wondering if I’d be better off staying in a hotel that night or whether I’d be better off just getting home as the painkillers etc will still be in my system what did everyone else do? X

I’ve got a 2 hour journey and I’ve been told to get a hotel near the hospital the night of your op just Incase anything happens x

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, but looks like most girls just went home and found the pain was less because of the anaesthetic so I’m unsure x

I’d rather go home I think be more comforting being in your own bed after having the op. My friend got here done 3 years ago though and said you don’t find out what time your surgery is until the day of your op and hers ended up being the very last one that day so she stayed over in the hospital Xx

I only had a 20min drive and was sick 4 times and had the worse pain ever and that was after having my opp at 8 in the morning and I stayed over didn’t leave till 10 the next morning so not like I didn’t have any rest I would defo book a hotel xx

    Hi @claire040690
I’m having the same dialemma, I live in near Bristol and my op is in London. I’ve decided to book a hotel and stay there after my surgery. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t feel worse the next day but I’ve read the some people don’t get released until 11pm and a long journey home after a long day doesn’t sound fun. Xx

Imogen me and you are from the same area I’m from Taunton so that’s what I’m not sure about I think I’m going to take the risk and just come home and hope I don’t get a late admission time, worst case scenario I’ve booked a hotel for the night before so il just extend my stay if I get a late admission time x

Whoop! Somerset girls, lol. That’s a good idea, that way you don’t have to fork out £££ unnecessarily. That an there’s no harm in asking whether you can have an early admission time… I might ask them as well as would rather get it out of the way early on. Xx
