Hiya, got my ba on the 26th at fitzroy day surgery only 10 days to go and getting nervous!! Does everyone have drains?? If not why do some people and not others?
Thanks!! X
Drains are to help reduce swelling and bruising. I had them and was having a nervous breakdown about having them out but I can honestly say that they didn’t hurt at all when they came out. I had mr kazzazi as my surgeon and I know he uses them a lot I’m not sure about any other surgeons. You’ll be fine. Xx
depends on ur surgeon hun, not sure if fitzroy uses them, i ahd mr k so i got them, dnt worry u dont even notice their there, i couldnt even feel them getin taken out xx
Depends on the surgeon, for me the drains were the worst part of surgery but that was only because one of mine got stuck.. But majority of girls say its fine just uncomfortable.
You have no choice as its part and parcel of the ba so just go for it xx
Hey Hun some surgeons use them some don’t I had mr kazzazi so I had them but I didn’t know they were there and didn’t feel them coming out xxx
I’m dreading drains I’m also with mr kazzazi on 1st feb, I’m such a wimp
The drains are used to drain away excess fluid, which should result in less swelling.
They are just pulled out afterwards, just before you go home. It shouldn’t really hurt coming out, it should just be a pull (they aren’t attached to anything, just placed), but on few occasions they can get stuck as the incisions are too tight to release them. They really aren’t as bad as you think.
I didn’t have them, so obviously I’m only speaking from what iv learnt xx
Thanks dreading them my self
I didn’t have drains with mine in December cos mr Traynor doesn’t use them, but I did with my first BA 7 years ago and have to say the removal of one of them was a bit unpleasant but it’s literally over in seconds so don’t worry yourself about it xx
