    Hello,

I’ve booked my inital consultation for Saturday and just been filling out the medical questions. It mentions family history of breast cancer and my nan did have breast cancer, I’m unsure if there’s a strong history of breast cancer or if it was just her. Will this effect my wanting breast implants? Has anyone been in this situation?

I would definitely choose under the muscle implants just incase I do require a mammogram in the future and for it to be easier to feel for lumps in my breast tissue. Has anyone else been in this situation during their journey ? Does it effect me in anyway, will the surgeon still go ahead with it ? I know I’ll probably get these answers at my consultation but wondering if any of you guys have been in a similar situation.

    Xx

Yes my mum had breast cancer and when I told my surgeon he was totally fine. As I had. I breast tissue my implant went under muscle (not a mya patient) he assured me that when u are called for a mamagram you simply explain u have implants and what sort and they use a different method 🙂

Enjoy your surgery day mine was amazing and I would do it all again 🙂

Hi Lucci, my mum had breast cancer I was asked to get a mammogram, before my surgery. My daughter has had a BA she didn’t have to have a did not have to have a mammogram it was suggested that she could have one before surgery but did not have to. Also she had thought she would have unders but has had overs, I also have over. Good luck for Saturday xx

Hiya, I have a strong family history and also brca 2 carrier which is a gene I sadly have from my mum which means I have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. My opp is 8th September and I have been told last min that I need a letter from a breast surgeon confirming I can have the opp, an MRI and ultrasound! I’m not rushing 1 month before opp to get this done as it was never said at my first surgeon consultation! Make sure u confirming it with them before you book opp. Good luck x

I had to get my mammogram done privately which I to pay for I couldn’t get one through my gp, I had a few problems getting it booked in but Joanna my nurse at Mya managed to get it sorted for me. It cost me just over £400. Xx
