Im confused as i have 2 different sets of information in the leaflets i was given!
1st one says, all patients may have clear fluids (black tea/coffee) until two hours before the procedure.
2nd leaflet says, you are able to drink small sips equivalent to 30mls of still clear water up to 2 hous prior to your admisson.
So i dont know which is right! I just want to know if i can have a coffee in the morning or not lol id rather a black coffee than no coffee lol… anyone know?? Xx

Thankyou, its just when i had to go see my surgeon on tuesday the nusre was in with an she said about clear fluids black tea/coffee up to 2 hours before then looking in my leaflets i saw that they said different things! Think its abit stupid to be giving out 2 sets of different imformation when its something important like this xx

Mine was water up to two hours before my admission time, I’m guessing because you don’t actually know what time surgery is at. I wasn’t with mya tho so maybe different for you xx

My nurse said to stop food and drink six hours before admission time or the night before if it’s an early admission, and just have one mouthful of water an hour up until two hours before your admission x

My admission isnt until 12.30 so im not sure what time my surgry will be but im going to be so thirsty an hungry by that time an i bet my surgry wont be until about 2. Litrally got the worst time! If it was an early admission it wouldnt be so bad, an if it was a little later i could have one when i got up but dont really want to get up early to eat an drink or i the day is just going to drag xx

I dont think the not eating will bother me its more for the drinking, so up to 11am (would be 10.30 for me because admission is at 12.30) what did you drink? Just water an how much? Could you drink as much as you wanted to that point or just little sips xx

I could drink as much as I wanted, in fact they told me the more the better because you heal better when you hydrated. I must say I’m not with mya tho.
And yes was just water after 7am up til 11am
Good luck with your surgery xx

I struggled with not drinking. In fact the first thing I said in recovery was I need water. I finished the first glass without taking a breath haha xx
