Feeling nervous and upset

Hi ladies, I have paid booked up and had my pre op and everything, my surgery is booked for 19th July with dr Andrea for 375cc partials. I got told last week from my nurse after I signed my contracts and documents that I need to go to my doctors to be allowed the surgery as I have had a history of depression and been on medication. I am so upset and nervous now if my doctor does not allow me to have it I don’t know what I will do 🙁 has anyone been in a similar situation? X

It depends how recently you have had medication for depression and how severe it was. It is just to make sure that you are in sound mind to make the decision to have surgery and also to assess how you may cope afterwards. If you convince your doctor that you are ok to make the decision then everything should be ok.

I had a similar situation. I’m booked in for the 28th of this month but I’ve been waiting since January.

I have a history of depression and was put on medication in January this year for anxiety. I was told by my PC and nurse I needed a letter from my GP to say I’m both physically and mentally stable enough to have the procedure and the exact date I was prescribed the meds. They also said I needed to be 6 full months either on the tablets or off the tablets before they would operate. So here I am 6 months later! Not long now but it hasn’t been the easiest process. I also saw a counsellor in November last year, they asked me to get a letter from her too to say I am stable. I sounds like I was severely depressed and don’t have the capacity to make the decision..but I’m really not that bad! I appreciate they want to safeguard us tho.

Thanks so much ladies for the reply, i had only been on them for around 3-6 months and that was about 7-8 months ago so I haven’t been prescribed any since I was just so excited leading up to the surgery date and now I’m not feeling happy 🙁 just nervous if they won’t allow me this is all I want and to be honest the main reason for my low mood was my confidence and getting this op will help so so so much! Xx

You’ll be fine hun. You’ve been off them for over 6 months. Go to your doctor and say you feel fine and the surgery will really increase your confidence. Stay positive! Let us know how you get on xx

MYA cancelled my op today, I was supposed to have my op this Saturday. Absolutely gutted :'( Their argument was that it has only been 1 year since I saw a GP about depression and I had 2 GP letters stating that I’m stable and can go ahead with the procedure but MYA wouldn’t listen. Really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else xx

No way I am so sorry to hear that I honestly hope they don’t do that to me id be beyond devostated 🙁 I’ve been waiting for this moment for 6 years now :'( hope you got a full refund and can maybe try a different company ?x

No way dvrue, where we’re you booked in and with which surgeon? Did you get money back or offered another date at all? Xx

I was gutted they did this to me 13 days before op. I declared I had meds for a week no other history of depression and they never said a thing until pre op . Then took 3 weeks to re pay my money it’s disgusting I was gutted. Be careful girls x

Please go elsewhere this is happening a lot but people scared to say in case they won’t repay money now I have mine back I will warn you all they will prob delete this post but go elsewhere!! Only thing that’s good is the forum

If I had my op with Mya surgeon I would have been back for a re op within 3 years due to my tissues remember however exciting this all is its your body do your research, don’t get sucked in because of the celeb endorsements and cause they have this forum they are only interested in your money

Who cancelled it do you know? Is it the surgeon or nurse? I’m so sorry you must be so disappointed xx

It’s the nurse and the pre op she cancelled it all she did was look at my medical records and cancel it there and then I wasted 250 on hotel and parking 🙁 have some boonies tho now thanx to my lovely hubby we had to pay out double only got money back last week !!!

Oh no! What a nightmare! If that happens to me I will be absoultely devastated. At least you got your money back now!! Really feel for you!!!!! Xx

I am so nervous for tomorrow now to see if she lets me go through with it all, I haven’t took any tablets for over a year I don’t see why mya are refusing people with go ahed letters from the doctors I will be so devastated I am barely sleeping thinking about what will I do if they cancel it it’s only a week away 🙁 xx

LADIES! My doctor approved the surgery just waiting for mya but my nurse said aslong as I have the go ahed I’ll be fine! 7 days today and I’m over the moon xx

I’m there now waiting to get it done its scary at first but everyone is so lovely you will be fine x

I had mine yesterday! Leaving hospital now. Don’t be nervous girls you’ll be fine. Let me know how you get on. And a word of advice…take all the pain relief they offer…not nice when it wears off!!! Xxx

I got mine on the NHS! Had a cancellation to come in tomorrow. Saw my surgeon today having implants and an uplift!

All done!!!! So happy in absolute agony tho x
