So after feeling really good in the hospital it’s been downhill from there… At day 7 my right breast is still in so much pain probably 90% of the time. I get some respite if I stay still but then I seize up and it feels 20 times worse when I try to move ?.
I was expecting a lot of pain and the crushing feeling I could deal with and went within a couple of days but the feeling that someone is scalping off or burning the bottom of my breast when I try to get up is the worst.
I’ve had reasonable movement in my left arm since the op but barely anything in my right. I’m worried as I should be back at work on Monday but even today after 7 days don’t have the movement or strength to drive….
My 7 day checkup had to be cancelled due to snow so no idea whats going on under the dressing and I still can’t shower. Had the salon wash my hair because I couldn’t bend forward enough for hubby to do it on Thursday but desperate for it to be washed again
I’ve alternated the co-dydramol with paracetamol as they have caused really bad thrush and constipation which has also been hell.
Any advice and reassurance would be brilliant ?

Hiya Louise, sorry you’re having such a hard time with recovery. I feel your pain! I’m currently 6days post op and I’m still having a lot of tightness and pain in both boobs but my first 3 days were honestly agony. I couldn’t even go to the toilet or walk downstairs without crying and needing help from my parents. My left boob felt like the incisions were going to rip open whenever I moved and I couldn’t even use my left arm. All I can say is that everyone heals at different rates and I’ve spoke to other girls who had no pain and some who had even more than I did, for a longer period of time.
For the constipation try getting some senna or other bowel softeners to ease it and just keep resting as much as possible, if you have any concerns give your nurse a call and she will put your mind at ease. I phoned them 3 times in the first 3 days about all my aches and pains, they were really reassuring that everything I was feeling was completely normal and it put my mind at ease a lot.
Just try to remain positive and remember that before long you’ll have perfect boobies and it’ll all be worth it! Hope you start to feel better soon lovely xx

I’m on my 3rd day and I’m feeling the same. I’m trying my best not to exert myself too much or sit up too quickly, but no matter how slowly I move I feel like I’m ripping my stitches on my left side. So I just end up trying to stay in one position which makes me seize up. I’m due back at work in 4 days and I’m worried I’m not going to be ready. Plus the hospital is about 1 hour away from my home so I have no choice but to drive through to get my check next week as I have no one else to take me! Please keep us updated with your progress Louise and I really hope you start to feel better! x

Hi Megan, thanks for your response. It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one with the awful ripping sensation! Have you had your dressing off yet?
I’m off to the pharmacy to see what they’ll recommend for all the issues – at least if I’m treating them I may be able to take the stronger painkillers for the boob side of things!
How are you finding sleeping? I’ve been on a recliner the last two nights, I found I kept slipping less than 45 degrees in bed and was too scared (and numb) to get up then ha. It makes it a little easier to sit up in the morning at least ? x

No problem, it’s just reassuring when other girls are going through the same as you isn’t it. I was so worried that something could be wrong but it was all normal. Our bodies have been through so much, of course its going to be painful!
I’ve been taking Senna and I’ve had no problems toilet wise, 2 of them every night before I sleep and I usually wake up needing to go (sorry if tmi haha).
The recliner sounds bliss, I have a V pillow and I sleep with a pillow under my bottom to stop me sliding down but I always do and have to try wiggle my way up the bed?. xx

Girls did use have unders or overs?? I’ve had overs with not a lot of pain, I’m worried that it might hit me more so in a couple of days I’m now 3 days post op ? I find sitting upright is the best thing for me than sitting in my bed as I slide down and struggle getting back up. I’ve not been going the toilet propperly so think I’ll give senna a try x

I had unders, I’ve heard overs are less painful so you might be fine! Yeah definitely try Senna, been so helpful x

Yeah apparently unders are, I was suppose to have unders but changed my mind a couple of days before surgery, I know I would of been a lot worse if I went through with unders as he said he would of had to cut into my muscle a lot to get rid of assymetricy ? thankyou I think I will go get some of these xx

Hi Mimi and Tori. I’ve had overs… Initially felt great but now I’m struggling. Tori are you able to take the train? It’s a long drive if you’re not lucky enough to be 100% by then – although hopefully you will be.
I spoke to a MYA doctor on the 24 helpline earlier. He recommended I go to my gp to sign me off for next week too but I had two weeks off sick in December then 2 more days after Xmas due to flu.. Feel like I’m taking the p*** to have anymore (prior to this Ive barely had a day off a sick).
The doctor also recommended senna and canesten but to cut the prescription out and just take paracetamol. He wasn’t able to prescribe a muscle relaxant for the arms or back ache and said there is a nationwide shortage ?. If I could shift that constant ache I’d be a lot happier.
    What did you girls have?
I was an empty 36 b and had 400cc HP overs… Wishing I’d have gone bigger now they don’t look any different to my padded bras under clothes haha – although I’m aware they are still changing x

Just hard to lift myself up if i slide down the bed, I’ve been out for 2 days now to my boyfriends to see his family and have a roast etc. Ive handled it fine just been bored of sitting around ?? I needed to get out. I had 345CC overs and mine feel huge but I didn’t want massive boobs anyway just a nicer set to what I had, do you have any pictures? Mine look quite pointed still xx
