Heya hun, I had my surgery yesterday and like you had never been under general anaesthetic before. I’m also scared of needles so was petrified beforehand. It was all so simple, they basically placed numbing cream on my hand and put the cannula in. They were chatting to me for a while and then I fell asleep after about 20 seconds. It feels like minutes later you wake up. I was a bit confused and kept asking for my mum but they calmed me down and took me back to my room. I kept dosing in and out for about half hour then I was all fine! Good luck!?
