Hey, I’m new here and so obviously have loads of questions… I’ve had my initial consultation and my surgeon consultation with Dr Fiumara is in one week. I know I can ask her this then but no harm in asking around on the forum first…
My PC said I could potentially be in for surgery on 27/30th November so very soon. But my boyfriend and I are looking to book a holiday just after Christmas. We are looking at going to the Maldives which means flights can be around 12 hours ???? this would be 4 weeks after my BA.
Do you think that’s too much too soon? It looks like a dream holiday and I’m so desperate to go, but don’t want to put my new boobs through anything I shouldn’t…
Any advice would be great!
Hi hun I had Dr Fiumara also and I very much doubt she will be positive about a long haul flight because it’s not much healing time since the op date.
Linda is a very cautious surgeon with the lowest rate of cc, infections and practically any post op complications u can ask any of the pcs or nurses at the clinic.
At four weeks post op ur boobs wouldn’t have fully dropped at all into the pockets made. A short haul flight may be ok but generally anything as long as 12 hrs is a no go due to air pressure, thinning blood etc. Plus there is risk of DVT. Besides if u did have complications I’m not sure how ur travel insurance would cover it becasue I’m sure long haul is specified as something u shouldn’t do in the contract u sign with Mya, so if u came into a problem u would most likely have to pay for a surgeon to fix it.
Make sure u ask her all the same and get an idea of when u would be able to go away.
Hope that helps
Fran (10 months post op)
Thanks for replying so quickly!
Kind of what I was expecting to hear, I’ll most likely have to compromise and go somewhere a bit closer. I’ll be sure to ask her at my consultation next week.
Do you mind if I add you on here? Trying to gather as much info about Dr Fiumara and her results beforehand as I can! Very excited as she seems like a great surgeon.
Ur welcome hun! Yes she’s amazing honestly. Linda has a instagram account and private website giving details about her work and qualifications. Shes very happy to answer all ur questions and I just really liked the fact that she seems to really care about getting u a great natural outcome. Don’t be afraid to ask her questions or point things out about ur boobs she will listen!
If u really want to go somewhere warm and nice over Xmas the canaries are always quite hot my brother took his gf in Jan /Feb of this year. Fx
Yes I’ve checked out her instagram, looking through all of the pictures is getting me even more excited ???? Yeah the Canaries are a good idea, hot but quite close. I’ll def look into that.
Sorry to pester you with questions but there’s one thing I’m starting to worry about pre-consultation… I know she specialises in a natural look (which is what I want) however I am worried about coming out of surgery and wishing I’d gone bigger! Though yours look a great size and you seem to have gone up by quite a lot of cup sizes. Did you have to push her on that or was she fine with it?
Thanks so much 🙂 xx
Hey no problem. I’m off work today hence why I’m replying so quickly lol
Initially Dr Fiumara said I could have 275 or 300 cc. I wasn’t too sure about this as I thought I would loose size going under the muscle (as that’s what most people said on the forum) and also because of the uplift. I thought omg will I have anything size wise at all if my skin is gona be cut away and I’ll have less to play with? Like what cup size would I be? Having the uplift cost a fair bit extra and I had to stay overnight so I didn’t want to go through it all just to be a DD max tbh when I’d been measured a volumeless C cup.
Linda said I should be a DD at most an E and I was measured Instore as a 30c although linda said I was more a B cup due to my lack of volume. I read online that 150cc is roughly one cup size for the average sized female so I thought ok guess what she’s saying is about right on terms of my final size once I’ve gone under the muscle and had an uplift.
I didn’t factor in the fact I’m very narrow and at the time weight 8.5 St. Anyhow I was adamant I wanted a bit more to compensate so I went back and asked her during the second consultation if I could possibly upped to 325cc, she said she would order 300 and 325. On my third consultation I went to see her to double check all the post op bras I had (I went a bit mental tbh thinking I needed to change them daily and because she doesn’t like macoms I was looking for a decent alternative. In the end she was happiest with the cheapest which was a basic sloggi crop top.) I double checked tht I was defo down for 325 and tries to find out if she had put down mod + but she only agreed to the size and would wait to the day for my projection shape.
If she feels ur body cant take the larger size for fear of rippling or look too top heavy and not in proportion she will explain her reasoning to u. So u won’t be thinking omg why not? Boob greed is real and I only had it pre op. Post op I was like omfg how the hell did I get to FF? Even Dr Fiumara was but shocked and laughed saying she didn’t expect me to be so much more bigger than predicted but I’m used to them now and know for sure I don’t want them any larger as its hard enough getting bras in my size.
Usually surgeons order a range of sizes and projections of they’re unsure of a gap or projection best suited to ur shape. As long as u agree an max size that ur happy with, if they can get it in on the day and it looks alright they will stick with that.
The issue arises if on the day u pluck a size out of thin air that wasn’t agreed upon say for example Dr Fiumara agreed that ur max was 425 and u said no wait I want 450 or 475, they would cancel ur op. Simply because it wasn’t agreed upon and the sizes weren’t ordered for u. It’s not like office shoes where they keep them in a stock room. Plus it may show poor communication between u and the surgeon which isn’t positive at all.

I’m going on holiday long haul 20th Nov….I got told 6 weeks for short haul (after 6 week check) / 8 weeks for long haul xx
Ah thank you that was so helpful!! I know every body is different and each size can get totally different results depending on your original boob/body type. Guess I’ll see what she says next Tuesday and what she recommends, I know the surgeon knows best just worried about having boob envy post op!
I need to find out about the projection too as I’m not too sure of the difference between HP and mods etc quite yet, I’m sure it’ll all become clear at my consultation though.
Sounds like you got very lucky with your size! FF sounds huge but they look so natural on you, I’m hoping to achieve a similar sort of result.
Thanks for all the info it’s been super helpful as I need to know what to be clear on when I meet her xx
Ah thanks, I know I’d be cutting it a bit too close with only 4 weeks. I guess I’ll have to see what my surgeon says at my post op consultations xx
Hi Hun my paperwork I got when I got my boobs done said you can fly a long half flight from 6 weeks and short haul 4 weeks I guess it all depends on what your sugoen and nurse say I don’t think it’s anything to do with our new boobs the flying tho I think it’s to do with the op and we are higher risk of a dv and bloody clots flying soo soon after an op xxx
Ah that makes sense then! I’ll have to see what she says before booking anything because I don’t really want to put myself at risk, thanks xxx
Hi Hun, I’m Cabin Crew, I went back working short haul at 4 weeks as this is what my nurse and surgeon said. For long haul they said 6 weeks. Although I know girls who went back working long haul after 10-14 days but honestly I wouldn’t do that if I was you, not even for one flight as a passenger. Just listen to what your surgeon advises. Xx
Hey babe
If you’re having Linda Fiumara- she’s rather strict, which I like. At your pre op you will receive a list of do’s and dont’s pre and post op BUT you’ll also get another separate list directly from her. On her list it says she prefers you not to fly for so many weeks after your op. I’ll check it when I get home and let you know the actual number x
Hey hun I’m not sure what the flying rules are but your not aloud to go swimming and baths etc for six weeks after your surgery so if you did go so soon after you’d not be able to go in the pool or sea 🙁 xx
Ur welcome hun and all the best xx ur in safe hands
Long haul after just 10-14 days, wow. I definitely wouldn’t risk that haha, too scared about something wrong! Good to get your pov as a stewardess, thanks 🙂 xx
Siobhan are you also booked in with Dr Fiumara? I’ll have to wait and see what she says, I’ve heard she has quite strict rules etc but she knows best! xx
Ah I didn’t even think of that… missing out on the pool/sea would be a bit depressing! xx
You can fly short haul 4 weeks after and long haul 6 weeks after. I flew to Mexico 6weeks 3dPo and I wore my post op bra and they were still uncomfortable on the flight and my legs swelled. I wouldn’t risk it xx
I almost had my op done before i went on holiday. Im glad i didn’t tbh. Im 5wpo now- still in a sports bra so really restricts what clothes you can wear, still sleeping sat up (till 6wks), my boobs are still quite hard and mid dropping process so appear uneven- i would feel self conscious in swimwear and they are still very tender. I had unders tho.
I think id be fed up not going in the pool, nervous of the sun on very fresh scars and the sports bra issue would drive me mad. Id wait a few months x
Thanks guys. I was thinking maybe it would be fine before but glad I started this thread, completely changed my mind! I have my heart set on going to the Maldives with my bf so I think the best thing for me to do is to schedule the surgery for after the holiday. Difficult because I’m so impatient but I think that’s my best option.
Thanks lovelies for your help xxx
